My mother called to cancel and was told she would be charged somewhere around $800 cancellation fee. She did. It sign a contract they say someone did but don't care to listen that it was not her. Two months ago they sent boxes to return equipment and said they would pick up on the porch, still the equipment sits. Now my mother had $1900 taken out of her account even after she went to the bank and explained the situation they changed her account number and everything. Dish network refuses to refund any of the money.

It's hard to find someone to be honest

First I would get a copy of the contract your mother may have signed frmo Dish. According to the contract the Maxium amount they can charge is 480.00 plus equipment if not returned according to their web site. They also prorate the account by 20.00 a month on the remaining months left on the contract.  They do require the Independent Dealers to leave a signed copy of the contract.  With the customer at the time of the installation is completed.

Who ever told you to leave on the porch was wrong the instructions inside the box are different. Matter of fact it's the customers responsiblity to get them dropped off at the shipping company.

A few years ago UPS and Fedex told everyone not to drop off packages without a receipt. See if you leave without a receipt and it gets lost or stolen. Then it will come back on you for the lost of the item.

What i tell my customers is to make sure to write down the tracking number. Then take it to the shipping store and get a receipt also. You see all the package get to their destination and then are put into a Semi Trailer. Then the Trailer is delivered to Dish Network and the Driver signs for the delivery not Dish Network.

Once you've sent the package(s) off to Dish. Then you can go to Fedex or UPS and print out a copy of proof of signature. Then I would take the proof of signature and the contract back to her bank.To prove to them she were over charged.

On new installations I tell the customer never use a Bank account/ Debit Card to start or pay your bill with. It would be best if they use a Credit Card for their Dish Account.

Good Luck to you. PS, if Dish does come by to get the equipment and since your mom is no longer a Dish contract. They might try to charge her  a service call of 99.00 for the pickup.
