Dishnetwork is the worst service I never recieved! (With the exception of the 1.5 hours of t.v. i've been able to watch using their service)Origanally i sighned up for Dishnetwork Sattalite on JAN 06 2006.(A differance of $22.99 a month compared to anywhere from $7.99 to $16.99 a movie is why I swiched to dish.)
When I called in to start service I was told my monthly bill would be $19.99 for am.top 60.And the rental on their equepment was,immedatley I stopped the rep telling her I had my own equipment already installed and ready.so she asked for the #'s on the box and smart card.we then began activating the box.wich we did after doing this she told me that my smart card was not any good and needed to be replaced,that would be sent to me in up to 7 days.
i didnt understand this being the system is brand new.But whatever.the box would recieve the inteactive dish network menu and their remote programming channel.i could play the games and order upgrades but would not show a picture on any of the other channels just channel info.
So i dissconected the box and went back to my cable while i waited for new smart card to come.remind you date was 1/06/2006. well 2 weeks went by no card.3 weeks no card.
forth week i called asking about where my card was.they said it had been returned as undeliverable by post office.was a adress issue.they didnt put apt # on the envelope.so we agreed that they would resend smart card with correct info.4 days later i recieved a bill for service but no smart card.
i called imedately to question where smart card was and why i was being billed first of all more than the 19.99 i was told went up to 34.99 and why a bill when i havent recieved my smart card. billing and tech support are differant deptartments and billing was unaware that i havent had service due to waiting on card.I was told when my smart card arrived and i called to activate the card they would make adjustments to my bill.
another week and 4 days passed still no card so i called in to ask why i was told that there was no request to send one.they found the request a mix up on there end was the problem.so then the rep said he would send the card ups 3-5 day shipping.
finally march 9th card came so i called to activate.the rep told me that my account was suspended due to nonpayment.i explained the situation to him he then talked to his suppervisor and told me i had to pay 59.99 in order to activate card.i didnt agree with this i never had service.so why payment was due.he told me that in order for me to be transferred to activations departmant i had to pay the 59.99 or he couldnt transfer me.i hung up.
later i called back pissed off to -try to get my service tyurned on.this time i was sucessful in activating my card and correcting my bill.i was at that point happy.an hour and a halph later i lost signal and havent been able to get one since even thoug the meter says i have a signal strength of at least 95%so for the period of jan 06/2006 until 4/2/2006 1 halph hours of service and i got my bill for 134.00 due now no credits applied like were suyppost to
BIG MISTAKE THE GRASS IS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE! BUT FULL OF LANDMINES IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!

The equiptment was not brand new, the smart card was old and recievers and smart cards are 'married' in the system (assigned to each other), and the smart card exchange program was started in 05.
Also- thats too bad that your service got shut off and you were charged a fee, but the contract states that there are reconnect fees if you do not pay during the contract period. If you have a problem with you bill you do not simply refuse to pay- you pay and dispute it. If you havent paid then you havent lost anything. It could have been taken care of better by dish I agree, but you could have done something to avoid the situation as well.
As far as your signal stregth goes- I am guessing that your equiptment was not installed properly or was missing a software upgrade or two.
