Although this story has been ongoing for quite some time, I'll keep it short.
I bought a 2000 Dodge Stratus with 3,000 miles on it. I noticed that the detail letters on one of the rear doors said LS, while the other was different. The salesperson assured me that this was merely an oversight by the personnel at the factory and that the car had never been in an accident. I took the vehicle to my mechanic and we inspected the vehicle from front to rear, finding no indication of repairs. I purchased the vehicle.
I sent an email to Dodge, asking them if it was possible for a vehicle to leave the factory with such an oversight as the letter mixup. A spokesperson contacted me via phone and said that this was an oversight by the dealer, who should have noticed the problem upon delivery of the vehicle. When I asked for this in writing so that I could take the matter up with the dealer, I was rebuffed, with Dodge saying the question had been answered. Further email transactions have only brought more negative responses. The last one, which I sent in September, has been completely ignored.
Needless to say, I expect a little more support when I pay $18,000 for a product. I hope Dodge understands that they have forever lost my business, as well as that of my family members and anyone else that hears this story and expects at least a modicum of support from a company.
So tell us Dodge, why won't you put in writing what your rep stated over the phone?

Mis-badged Chrysler products
AUTHOR: James - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, February 26, 2003
I worked in a multi-line dealership a few years ago (Lincoln/Mercury/Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge) and it is apparent that you are not the first purchaser of a Chrysler product that has been mis-badged. We had a Plymouth van come in that was also a Caravan. The badge on the front said "Voyager" The back said "Caravan".
The reason was that these vehicles are built on the same asembly line and mistakes happen. The bottom line is that these are cosmetic issues and really don't affect the useability of the vehicle. I would, however, hope that the dealerwould do everything in their power to make things right and order the proper decal/badge for your vehicle.
