the Paitent in question was admitted to Northridge Hospital ER by ambulance.  She was treated in the ER and moved to the ICU for addtitional care. Despite Damavandi's pessimist comments,  medications had positive affect and the Pulmonary X rays were showing signs of improvement while the patient was in the ICU.  The rate of improvement was rather slow due to the patients age but noticable .. She had only stayed at the ICU for 2 days when he decided unilaterally to downgrade the patient to the regular car unit. Later on we discouvered that the doctors are under pressure to create room for other patients and not keeping patients in the ICU for a longtime becuase the insurance company/medicare would take them under question and perhaps would deny paying the hospital for the high expenses of the additonal nights at the ICU.

When I visited the patient the same day that she wea transferred in the evening without any notice to the family, i noticed that although rather stable but she clearly needed the additonal attention .. The other patients in that unit were not nearly as critical as her.  It took me 30 mintues to get the nurses attention to get some ice water and swabs to clean the patients mouth due to breathing in the Oxygen Mask.  I met with the nurse and while we both agreed that she should have still been at the ICU, he expressed his discomfort for having such critical patients in this unit.. Unfortunately, the doctor was not around and it was too late to express my opinion as to her being returned to the ICU .. we had to wait till the next day.

AS i left around 7 pm , one hour later, i received a call from the head nurse that the patients heart had stopped.  AS i talked to the Nurse on duty on the phone he was very shocked and hestiant discussing the issue with me on the phone that what had happened within that hour that i left.  The head nurse did not allow him to talk further. I decided to drive to the hospital and talk to him directly.  When i got to the unit again it took 25 minutes to find him. Its was clear that he could not talk much being concerned of jepordizing his job, but he agreed that the patient did not belong in that unit and should have still been in the Intensive Care Unit.  That brings us back to Mr. Damavandi's decision to move the patient prematurely out of the ICU when she needed the additional attention due to her age and condition.. My comments are factual and my intention is not to create a grip session.  For that reason i am including my information if needed
