Before I begin... DriveTime is a worthless, scam of a "company". As a strong word of advise, if all else fails in your car hunt TAKE THE BUS! You'll regret it if you don't.

Now to how these people are: I (much like everyone who "picks" DriveTime) was in the position where I thought I had no other choice. Granted it is my fault, and no one elses, that my cradit was where it was at the time but if I'd only known. The day I went to look at trucks I was met by an older salesman. He seemed nice and wasn't too pushy so I stuck around to see what they had on the lot. Later in the day we had struck a "deal" and began the paperwork. I knew the price was high (along with the APR) but due to the situation I moved forward. Due to them fixing to close for the day we decided to let them process the paperwork the following day and then come back to pick up the truck. 4 DAYS LATER they called and advised it was ready.

That evening I showed up to take the truck home. When the salesman and I were walking out he stated that he'd ride with me to the Gas Station as they were going to put gas in it. As we pulled in to get the whooping $10 in gas they give you for purchasing a vehicle, the Check Engine Light came on. The salesman advised that he saw it at the same time I did and that it was covered under the Warranty and to take it in for the repair. He also advised that the truck came with the Keyless Entry Key Pad but that it was being sent over from another store, so to call him in the next couple days and come pick it up. Sounded fair to me!

Two days later I called the Warranty Shop and explained the Check Engine Light and that it came on the night I picked the truck up from the dealership. The guy at the Warranty Shop advised that it "wasn't covered". I then called the dealership to speak with the salesman and was told he was with a customer and would call me back.

After 3 or 4 days of calling back up there I was told he was no longer with DriveTime. I asked to speak with a Manager and was told he was "in a meeting" and would have to call me back. Again, days went by. The long and short of it is I was given the run around until after my Warranty expired (always told they were in meetings and Corporate NEVER returned calls either). Shortly after the Warranty running out I was contacted by the Warranty Corporate Office to discuss my issue. After a brief conversation over the phone I was told that my Warranty Expired and that if I wanted the issue "challenged" then I could have the repairs done myself and submit the bill for review... basically their way of saying I was SOL. The issue of my Keyless Remote was swept under the rug as well.

During this time I began to get calls from their "Customer Service" people about late payments. I advised them that I had been with the same employer for years and that my payments were due the day AFTER my paydays. After researching the issue with them I was informed that not only were my paydates wrong, so was ALL of my information (address, phone number, email address, etc.) I gave them the correct info and was told that everything would be fixed. Again, about a week or so later I began to get phone calls. This person I spoke to advised that in order to have my paydates changed I needed to come in to the store and sign a change form. A few days later I went in and signed the forms.

AGAIN I got a call from them, this time the "Finance Manager", he advised that he didn't get the paperwork submitted in time and that I needed to come in again to redo the paperwork. This happened two more times!!!!
This last October I was laid off from my job due to the current economy. Trying to do the right thing I contacted them and advised of the situation and that I had already applied for Unemployment but that there may be a few payments here and there that would be a day or two late depending on when I got my unemployment. (NOTE: Once my paydates had been corrected I always paid on time and more than the balance.)

On Dec 1, 2008 I had a payment due. By 10:00 AM they were calling. I knew a payment was due but I was leaving town for a funeral. I was going to get where I was going and pay online. The next day (Sat.) I got another call. When I spoke to the Customer Service girl I advised I was on my way out of town and would make my payment that night, or the next day, online. She wouldn't accept that and began to argue with me so I hung up. Not 10 seconds later my phone rang again, this time it was a Finance Manager, who explained he had been listening to my conversation and that me not paying right now was "unexceptable" and that I was to drop what I was doing to Western Union them the payment, as well as "learn" what my responsibilities were! I lost it. On top of telling him just what I thought of him AND DriveTime, I told him that I have always paid on time, plus some, and that he had no right to TELL me about my "responsibilities"... especially when I'm leaving town for a d**n funeral.

I closing, these people are worthless bloodsucking scum! They tell you one thing and do another. Then when you talk to one person, another tells you something completely different. They will call you the next morning after a payment is due and even call a reference before you (I have the phone records from my phone and references to prove it). Their so called "Customer Service Associates" are the worse.... no wonder you always get a different person on the phone, their turn around must be through the roof!!!

If you're reading this just read the other post on this site.... they're all d**n near the same! I'll tell you the same thing I tell ANYONE who ask me about DriveTime, GO ANYWHERE ELSE! I make it a point to tell everyone I can how worthless this company is and will continue to do so. They get off on talking down to you and when you try to call Corporate they're in "meetings" (no matter time or day) and don't care enough to even call you back. I've left messages with everyone from Management to Mediators and have not gotten a call back yet.... I've given up calling, it's been almost two years now without a call back. If you want to buy an average car, hope it doesn't have ANY Warranty issues, and have NO CUSTOMER SEVICE then DriveTime is the place to go!

P.S. I've read a few of these reviews where "associates" respond trying to say how the posts are "lies". Funny how big these "people" talk over the phone and online.... that shows you the type of people DriveTime employs. They want to run their mouth instead of actually trying to solve an issue!
