I can't believe this scam happened to me and all the other innocent people on this web site. Something must be done to stop these people.

This happend to me last night. A girl about 20 came to our door and said she was my neighbor. This could have been true, since new people moved in a while ago and we haven't met them yet.

She said her name was Ashley and she was going to England to participate in some acting classes with John Cleese, (the actor). She said she was trying to raise money/points to get to London by selling books for children.

Usually, I'm very careful and don't trust many people. She was very persistant, "bells should have gone off". I was up all night thinking about this and sure enough, I got on the web to look them up and found all this information. I quickly made a stop payment on my check for $55.00 we'll see what happens.

I think this should be a topic of discussion on CNN or some other big news stations. I hope we can shut these people down. Good luck to all who have been HAD. It's sad. Also, the address seems to be bogus.

Does it really matter?

AUTHOR: Ripoffrebuttal - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 14, 2008

You say that Ashley came by and told you that she was going to study acting with John Cleese, and that she was going to earn enough points to go to London to do this by sending books to children. My first question to you is what does your receipt say? Did she write the address of the hospital? Did she give you something showing that the hospital would receive books for your order? Either of these things would require whatever clearinghouse she is using to send the products indicated on your receipt to the address indicated on your receipt.

Would it really have mattered to you whether she was using the money she earned from the sale to go study with John Cleese? I doubt it, you bought something from Ashley because she was persistent and had some kind of personality trait that made you want to help her with her goals. Would it really have mattered had Ashley told you that she wanted to earn enough money and have enough sales that she could take off the rest of the afternoon and gone to the mall to purchase some Mack makeup? Would have it mattered that Ashley was not earning points to go to Cancun or Hawaii than going to London?

My point is that Ashley may have stretched the truth while talking to you, big deal. Ashley is most likely bored to tears telling every customer the same story about she is earning points to travel to a destination such as Hawaii, Aculpulco, London or Paris (which really is true in most cases).

So you know where I am coming from, I am an ex "mag-agent". I traveled the country for four years of my life, and had some very good times. I never traveled with Dynasty Sales, but their reputation started to grow as I was leaving the business. They were always talked about as a great company to work for. When you travel and you see the the same Jones' (customers) everyday, you tend to get bored telling them the same story about how you really are earning points to travel not to mention the money you earn to achieve whatever goals you want to set for yourself (mine was to open my own tanning salon which I have by the way). When you get bored and confortable, your sales plummet like no other. The only reason anyone buys anything from any yahoo that comes to their door is because the person knocking on the door has charisma, and personality not because that person is selling anything on behalf of a charity or because the person said that they were going to London to study with John Cleese. The only reason you buy something from a door to door salesperson is because they are able to connect with you, and make you feel like you are helping that person out, regardless of the purpose for the sale.

So let me ask you, does it really matter what Ashley said she was going to do with the points and/or money she earned from the sale? I don't think it does. You bought something from Ashley because she was able to make a personal connection with you, and you wanted to help her achieve her goals. Who really cares what her goals were, as long as your receipt showed that you were sending something to kids at a hospital or whatever the destination, then you did two good things. You helped Ashley earn points and money and you sent something to some kids that will only help to brighten their day. I agree with you, I think CNN should discuss all the positive things that are created as a result of these people that come to your door. CNN should talk to all of the people who have become successful business owners, CNN should visit all of the hospitals and women's shelters where books are sent and see the joy on the children's faces after they receive the books that would not have otherwise been sent to them had it not been for these door to door sales people. By "shutting these people down" all you would be doing is ridding the world of a work environment where people can learn and grow and help the less fortunate. So what if they told you that they were going to do something great? Maybe someday they will do something great, maybe someday they will study with John Cleese, maybe until then all they are doing is putting a smile on the faces of children less fortunate than themselves and putting a couple of dollars in their pocket at the same time.

Maybe you should examine your own actions, which are no less scandolous than those of Ashley. You state that you gave a check, a promise to pay, to Ashley in return for her to send some books to some kids. Then you stopped payment on the check, the promise to pay. Ashley most likely counted on your check, your promise to pay, when she budgeted her expenses for the week and the month. Ashley probably took your check, your promise to pay, as earnest money and spent it on food or other necessary items. Because you stopped payment on your check, your promise to pay, Ashley most likely had that amount of money (plus any applicable fees) removed from her commissions on her sales. Now Ashley most likely owes the company money because your check, your promise to pay, was no good.

I might ask, how is it that your promise to pay can be disregarded simply because Ashley told you that she was going to use the money to buy something for herself rather than use the money to act with John Cleese? Why is it that you would like to deny books to unfortunate children? I think you should call CNN. Call CNN and tell them that you refuse to honor your checks. Call CNN and tell them how you have made a young women go into debt. Call CNN and tell them about how you are unable to honor your promise to pay on a check. Most of all, call CNN and tell them about what a wonderful personality Ashley had, and how you could not resist buying something from her. Ashley did what she was supposed to do, and that is sell. You were unable to do what you promised to do - pay.
