Earthlink ripoff Atlanta Georgia

I'd like to contribute my experience with Earthlink so others might avoid their misrepresentation and harrassment. I went to Office Max to pick up a free 45 day or 1000 hour internet introductory internet service. There were two different plans so I made sure I picked up the free one. After reading all the fine print and looking over the downloaded information thoroughly before I signed up, I was clear that I had the correct product. Earthlink disagreed and has spent the last three months harrassing me to pay for two months of service plus a $50.00 disconnect fee. They now have my account at a collections agency. They even admitted that they wrote in their notes that I called to close my account but they didn't close it, allowing them to charge for another month of service..

I tried to handle this by being proactive from day one that the bills were incorrect and have contacted about 8 different people from customer service to collections. The last one told me he would take care of it for me. Big joke! I even had one of their collections employees by the name of Amy telling me that sometimes the CD's get switched in packaging and customers end up with the wrong product. This is a company who will do anything to get your money and doesn't care anything about customer service. I have spent about 25 hours and have a pile of emails and information about the people I've spoken to...as well as the CD for a free introduction. Believe me, this isn't a company you want to fight, they won't do the right thing.
