I have been an e-bay member and user since 1999. I have not been a huge seller or buyer, but in my 6 years I have achieved about 160 positive feedbacks. Up until recently I had only receive 1 negative feedback and this was in retaliation from a company because I left them bad feedback.

Recently I started selling a few things on eBay. Mostly my wife's makeup because she buys too much and then doesn't like some of it. We don't make money off of this, but we at least get something. I have also sold used electronics that I have upgraded such as old cell phones.

Lately eBay has started to go downhill. I had someone report me saying I copied their listing. I copied the description from the package into my listing and eBay says that another user had the same section of text in their description and their fore I copied them and my listing was canceled. I e-mailed them back and tried to dispute their action and it took them 12 days to respond to which they said they need more information. I stated again that that was the description on the makeup bottle. They never wrote back.

Then bad things started happening. I sold a cell phone and the person received it and then field a dispute saying they never got it. I provided tracking info showing it was signed for. eBay didn't believe me and made me refund them. They got the phone and the money. Then I purchased a monitor. It arrived cracked. The seller wouldn't deal with me. I filed a dispute and they told me to return in and provide proof of tracking. I did. eBay tried to refund me, but said the seller had no money in their account, so they could not give me my money back. They sold me nothing and kept my money.

To make matters worse, a few Items I have sold recently have resulted in me getting bad feedback. I sold an iPod shuffle. The buyer never paid. I filed an unpaid item dispute and they left me bad feedback for a transaction that never occurred. I sold it again and shipped it. They guy then said my ad was misleading and he though it was for a $299 iPod and not a $99 iPod shuffle. Again I got bad feedback. Then I sold to someone who said she wanted to pay by personal check only despite the auction stating paypal only. I told her no. I got bad feedback again.

Then I thought I could make little extra money selling space on my server. This sounded odd, but I noticed storage accounts were being sold for $20-100. I have a server and sold a storage account. I checked eBays rules and found this to be completely legal to sell. My title, my listing, and all stating this is for an account. I thought this would be a good service I could sell to make back some of the money I lost.

I got lots of questions from people who thought I was selling a physical server and not an account. I told them all what it was for, some of them retracted their bids, others bid more. I sold 3 accounts for about $100 each. 1 person said they mistook my auction and though they were buying a computer (I don't know how, it was not at all misleading). I let them back out and all was fine. They other 2 paid and I set up the accounts and sent them the username and passwords. They logged in, changed their passwords and started using their accounts. Then both filed disputed though PayPal saying the bought servers and only got storage space. I explaining the auction to them and PayPal and paypal said it was not at all misleading and denied their disputes.

I get more bad feedback from both of these people. They are still using my server however and I have let them keep using it. They purchased space for a year and paid for it.

Now, without warning, eBay has shut down my account. I e-mailed them to ask why. I also stated that I have a lot of positive feedback and have been using their service for 6 years and would like a detailed explanations as to why and would like to know what I could do to have my account reinstated.

Here was their response:

I still have no idea why I was shut down and apparently I must provide additional information or they will not respond. What information they want I have no idea!
I guess I am banned from eBay.
