ENERGY PLUS SUIT The going rate is 7.6 cents but my last bill was 12.9 cents/KWH. They promised "an average of 7% over PPL's rates" and they did nothing but increase it and rip me off. I was getting ready to sell my house because I could not afford $500 and OVER $600 electric bills (on a small 1400 sq ft home)! I am sickened by this practice; a good example of how paid lobbyists go in and bribe our government for corporate greed.

I have received calls back from state reps who, it turns our, ARE interested in litigation! Please contact your state re NOW!. Contact your attorney general. The state of NY is suing them for selling electricity above "competitive rates."

These satanists said they had competitive rates. I told them I'm not stupid; double rates are NOT competitive, I knew what they were doing and I would spend every waking moment of my life to shut them down. I have closed physician offices and large companies for fraud. This is my next target; they ripped off the wrong person!

Why do we sheeple sit back and take this? Call a rep, attorney general and complain. DEMAND your money back. THey gave me $350 but that's NOTHING compared to what they stole (that accounts for the money they took on that $638 bill I received.  I'm the only one supporting 3 kids and a wife. I'm it and I can't make any more money or get any more money than I bring in.

In this economy, now you see why the billionaires are getting richer while people work harder to make ends meet. Record numbers of profits for these companies. MAKE THEM PAY! Please don't accept the unacceptable any more! Post signs, put it on your FB page and tell EVERYONE about Energy Plus Holdings, LLC and how they rip off the citizens of our state!

Ripped off in Philly

AUTHOR: fedupwithgettingrippedoff - ()

POSTED: Friday, April 18, 2014

Well, Energy Plus has been charging me Commodity Charge ### KWH @ 0.179   I'm disgusted!  I called them and the best they could do was lower me to .13?  Really?  Well, I switched.  I can't believe they get away with this robbery.  They just hope people, like me, will not look at their bill.  I haven't checked it in a long time either.  I was wondering why my bill has been so high.  I thought the kids were leaving stuff on.  Grr!!!

Yes, lawyers might be "satanists", as you say...

With all due respect, if you have a problem with capitalism, go try out one of the countries you mentioned.  While we do not need rip-off companies like this one (who I, too, had problems with), we also do not need people like you who disapprove of what this country stands for and was founded upon.  Capitalism isn't the problem.  Lawyers, judges and lobbyists are -- oh, and folks like you who run around preaching socialism.  No one makes anyone stay here.  Hence feel free to leave.  Planes take off every minute.

I got ripped off but I agree; lawyers are satanists

AUTHOR: Hyena - ()

POSTED: Sunday, April 21, 2013

Sharks don't eat lawyers out of professional courtesy. Class action attorneys are the worst, ensuring they get paid by creating the settlement proposals themselves. I call BS in the liar (Lawyer) posting above. Self serving, hardly ever offering anything close to the losses, raking in the lionshare of proceeds for themselves for little work. No other job can offer such a small amount of REAL WORK for such huge payouts than class action suits.

Here's an example- Energy Plus rips you off for $8,000 and your settlement is $30. The stinking liars get the rest. By the way, there's nothing wrong with socialism; capitalism has gone way too far to the point we don't have freedom of speech or freedom to protest without paying for new teeth. Too bad we can't follow examples of the countries who have retirements, full health care and can afford vacations (Swedes, Norway, all those Viking countries). Go abroad and you see few American's vacationing, but you see a better representation of the more successful countries. We just got hit by massive tax hikes to reimburse private businesses three times over. Capitalism sucks almost as bad as lawyers do!

Electric Rates

AUTHOR: squish64dad - ()

POSTED: Saturday, March 16, 2013

There are 2 parts to current deregulated rates, delivery and supply.  The delivery is by your local utility is usually set by a government agency and is fixed.  In Mass it is about 4.8 cents/kwh.  The supply is open market and competitive.  My current rate is 7.8 cents/kwh.   A total of 12.6 cents/kwh.

The rates you mentioned are total rates and the original posting was supply rates only.  Not quite apples and oranges, but Macintosh and Delicious :-)

Energy Plus is a supplier only and their rates are not regulated, nor fixed.  They offer a promotion rate that is lower that others and then appear to raise it afterwards.   I for one am staying away.

DON'T BOTHER WITH LAWYERS

AUTHOR: mrsfluff - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, February 09, 2013

Yes, they will be THE ONLY ones to benefit.  You will get a small credit while they get millions.  Hmmm... to the comment about billionaires...let's see. WHAT ABOUT THE SLEAZY LAWYERS?  THEY drive prices up!  Not billionaires!  AT LEAST billionaires create jobs in so many ways that we don't even think about - just the fact that they invest CREATES JOBS!!!  (Not suggesting there isn't scum among them, tho!)  So let's be fair here.  Nevertheless, STAY AWAY FROM ENERGY PLUS!  We can stop them by not giving them our business...IT'S THE AMERICAN WAY!  (uh, or at least it used to be)

Shut them down

AUTHOR: antnee - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, July 28, 2012

Unfortunately I signed up for Energy Plus for many of the reasons I've seen other people state.  Like others my rate doubled within 3 months.  I'll be filing with the BBB, PA Attorney General and any other agency that might go after them.  I'd willingly sign on to a class action suit, anything to get these guys for fraud.  I never imagined they would double their rates, I just signed back up with Con Ed for 40% of what Energy plus charged me this month.  What stinks is that it won't switch over until the next meter reading so I'm stuck paying another inflated bill from EP.

ken- i agree with some of what you say

AUTHOR: gerry - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, April 13, 2012

Like I said, it is true in many class actions, the class get short changed, and the attorneys do ok, but that is not the fault of the attorneys, it is the fault of the corporations who refuse to properly compensate the class. Even still, as I said, the lead paintiffs are always awarded a significant sum, usually in the thousands of dollars and sometimes even in the tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars. And I am looking for 2-3 people from NY to act as lead plaintiffs.

Second, the situations where the class members get ridiculously small amounts of compensation, are where the injury to each class member is very small, such as where companies have overcharged each member between $2 and $100. In this situation where, in my opinion, thousands of customers have been overcharged by thousands of dollars each, I believe even the class members will receive a significant award should I be victorious. (to take my personal story as an example, in the space of two years, Energy Plus charged me approximately $3000 more than I would have been charged had I stayed with ConEd.)

Yes there are sleazy attorneys, but there are sleazy doctors and sleazy teachers and sleazy politicians and sleazy people in almost any occupation. As a whole, attorneys are good people and a very high percentage of attorneys spnd a portion of their time providing free services to the poor. How many other professions do you find that concept so prevalent? very few.

Bottom line, I am a decent guy, who like you is trying to make an honest living, and this is not a random lawsuit- this is a cause I caree about, because I truly believe that Energy Plus's business model is illegal and I personally got stung by it.

Gerry, I've been retired for awhile, have never worked for Energy Plus or even know anything about them.

I will admit to having a dis-taste for ambulance chasing lawyers, of which we have FAR too many in the U.S.

All my posts on ROR (or elsewhere) are my own based on experience opinions and have NOTHING to do with any corporate sponsorship or employment.

My dis-taste for "lawyers" is also based along the same lines...nothing personal.

"Lead plaintiffs are usally awarded several thousand dollarsAUTHOR: gerry - brooklyn (United States of America)SUBMITTED: Friday, April 13, 2012POSTED: Friday, April 13, 2012

actually Ken, lead plaintiffs are usually awarded manythousands of dollars by the courts. it is true that in some class actions, the general members of a class get short changed, which is why it is important to act as a lead plaintiff, which you can do by contacting me.

As for your comment about self-serving, Ken, I was personally ripped off by EnergyPlus, by several thousand dollars.

Ken, do you have any affiliation with Energy Plus?"

Also, the class actions I've been aware of seem to USUALLY favor fat fees to the attorneys and nothing of much value to the class.

Someone filed a class action suit (unbeknownst to me) against E-Bay. (Yingling vs E-Bay) and I got a check dated 11/21/2011 indicating not good unless cashed by 12/22/2011. The amount of the check?....Nine CENTS. I kept it, uncashed just for the laughs.

Bet the attorneys did a LITTLE better, don't you think.

You really should take "Gerry" the lawyer up on the lawsuit offer...

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, April 13, 2012

It's a GREAT money making opportunity for the LAWYER, in the millions and the class participants will get a $5 credit on their next bill.

We have far too many litigators now and they have to scratch to find things to litigate and keep themselves solvent.

This is a TOTALLY self-serving lawsuit on the lawyers part.  Then they wonder why people think they're bottom feeders as a group.

you can fight back if over charged

AUTHOR: gerry - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, April 13, 2012

I am a class action attorney and I am in the processof filing a class action lawsuit against Energy Plus due their marketing materials impying their rates are competitive with Con Ed, while it is clearly their business model to charge rates that are substantially higher than Con Eds.

If you live in NY state, and are or were with Energy Plus for at least 3 months, please call me at 917 714 8721 or email me at eplawsuit@gmail.com.

Win or lose, you will not have to pay a penny in legal fees, and as a lead plaintiff, you be awarded many thousands of dollars by the Court.

Timing is critical- contact me today. 917 714 8721 or email me at eplawsuit@gmail.com.

November $.128  or 12.8cents

" In this economy, now you see why the billionaires are getting richer while people work harder to make ends meet"

According to a 2011 report, there are approx. 400 billionaires in the U.S.

To join them, get a higher education, hock your house, wife and kids and go out on a limb in a business venture to make you rich too.

Or, you can just join the Occupy movement and promote more socialism.

I've probably got some bad news for you...

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, January 12, 2012

I found 2010 rates for various states, which I would bet have risen since then, and here's what I got...

Amount per kwh: Hawaii  27.83,  Massachussetts 15.29,  New Jersey 16.55,  Pennsylvania 12.79.

"I'm the only one supporting 3 kids and a wife. I'm it and I can't make any more money or get any more money than I bring in. In this economy, now you see why the billionaires are getting richer while people work harder to make ends meet. Record numbers of profits for these companies. MAKE THEM PAY! Please don't accept the unacceptable any more!"

Sorry for your financial difficulties, but how is that Energy Plus's fault?

Please provide a link to your source for the "going rate" of 7.6 cents/kwh, I'm wondering where the rates in Pennsylvania are that are so much higher as to average 12.79 cents/kwh.

I had to put in an 8KW solar system to get my power bill down, I have medical equipment powered 24/7.
