I purchased a new dental scaler from this company and it worked OK.  When it got older they talked me into buying a new model.  That unit has fallen apart twice during use, the welds in the handle break.  After this happened the second time while the unit was still under warranty, they charged me just under $100.00.  I have called and complained and they could care less.  Their service department than sent it back to me in a falling apart box.  I sent it to them in the original box with foam inserts that the unit came in.  This unit is so unreliable I have had to purchase another unit from a different company, now I need to sell this pier of junk.

BBB determined invalid complaint

AUTHOR: Steven S. Menaged - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 27, 2011

Dr. Glade reported us to the Florida Better Business Bureau. The BBB reviewed his complaint and found it to be invalid and closed the case.

What this shows is that Engler Engineering stands by its product and customers including Dr. Glade. The fact is replacement parts are required to be changed periodically and wear out due to normal use.

FDA issues warning letters to Engler

AUTHOR: Clifford Glade - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, September 15, 2011

FDA U.S. Food and Drug Administration website has public copies of letter of warning written to Engler engineering regarding their dental products.  It is also noteworthy that the government agency finds Engler response inadequate, when they responded at all.  Before you consider purchasing equipment from them it would be prudent to read the warning letters concerning their products

I'll have to throw in with the company, Engler Engineering Corp

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, September 15, 2011

They have an A+ rating on the BBB, with NO reports.  Perhaps scalers shouldn't be used to drive nails or whack recalcitrant animals to subdue them.

Dr. Cliff Glade's complaint is unfounded and false

AUTHOR: Steven S. Menaged - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, September 15, 2011

Dr. Cliff Glade of the Animal Hospital of Islamorada traded in his older Engler unit which he used reliably for almost 10 years. He traded on 9/28/2010 toward a brand new unit under our loyalty program and received a $100 discount.

On November 11th 2010 Dr. Glade called to complain that the ultrasonic insert in the handpiece was not functioning properly. We replaced the insert under warranty and paid for shipping which is usually the responsibility of the customer as stated in our warranty, and posted on our support website engler411.com. The average life of this ultrasonic insert is 6 to 12 months with normal use. For a new unit purchase, our ultrasonic insert is warranted for 6 months and replacement inserts are 30 days.

Dr. Glade sent us his unit August of 2011 nine months after he received the replacement insert.  The insert was damaged and bent as noted on his fax estimate. The handpiece the insert fits into was also damaged.  When he faxed back the approved estimate he included this nasty note, "repair this piece of junk so I can sell it".  The damage to the handpiece came to $380.00 for parts and labor. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and replaced that at no charge.

The replacement insert we sent him at no charge was now 9 months old and bent. Not a manufacturers defect and 8 months past the warranty period. The cost of this part plus shipping back to Dr. Glade did amount to $100, nothing unusual. This is why we are confused as to why Dr. Glade is writing this false report on your site and remains unhappy.

The unit itself carries a 6 year warranty but this replacement part, as indicated on our warranty is 6 months. In comparison, car companies clearly do not cover wear items such as tires and brakes unless its a manufacturers defect, which is also Engler Engineerings policy. In the case of Dr. Glades complaints, there was no indication of manufacturing defects. The statement he is making is false and he is filing a false report.  We went out of our way to accommodate Dr. Glade. He was nasty to us in his tone and expected Engler to absorb the cost for the insert he returned in a damaged condition.

Engler Engineering has sold tens of thousands of these units worldwide and has been in business since 1964. We have built an excellent reputation for manufacturing quality equipment and taking care of customers in a fair manner. That is why we have the number one selling Ultrasonic dental unit in the industry with the best warranty.

In conclusion:  All warranty parts were replaced at our cost including a $380.00 handpiece repair, which was damaged and replaced as a courtesy.  The insert was bent and 8 months out of warranty. Dr. Glade was rude in his note and expected us to just give him everything for free.We are sorry

Dr. Glade is bitter and felt the need to write a false report.  I am one of the owners of the Engler and I believe we went above and beyond what any other company would do to try and resolve his repair issues.
