Enterprise Enterprise Scam to Collect Car Rental Damages, Near Vancouver Airport Vancouver BC

On May 29,2013 I have picked up a rental white Chevy Malibu Plate #142NVS from the Enterprise Rent A Car near Vancouver British Columbia International Airport.

The rental agent took less than 20 seconds to show the car and he mentioned that there are no problems with this car. There were some scratches on the back bumper due to luggage loading in the trunk and he said do not worry we only look for dents and scratches of size of golf ball and he did not put this on the checkout form. I have signed the form and he also did not give good explanation of the waivers that I have signed. I came to know I was not covered for road side assistance later when I needed it. I have left my keys in the car and locked myself out.

I had the car for 4 days and I was the only driver and know that I had no accident and did not cause any damages to this car. On the time of return the car the agent find some minor misalignment at the lower driver side door with respect to the door frame. This mechanical damage was very difficult to detect and you really need to look at it a few times to see it. It did not impaired the operation of the car door. So he claimed that I have caused this damage as it was not on the checkout form. I have told him that I know this issue was not caused by me and it was there and got missed by the agent.

So they send me a bill for $2500.00 pay by my insurance and if I do not pay they will charge my credit card on file. Looking at the damage report it looks like the problem is generated from the underside of the car (possibly hitting a curb). I know that I did not hit any curb or miss-use the car. So I am going to fight this one and I will not pay as this is another scam by car companies to generate more money. I came to know that this kind of claims are very common in Vancouver British Columbia as another Rental company (Budget Rent A Car) is being investigated by RCMP for fraudulent claims like this.
