We checked our phone bill this month and found we were billed $14.95, and upon further investigation we have been billed since our November 2004 phone bill. We have never authorized this.

I called ESBI and was informed that it was authorized through the website for "FREE GROCERY COUPONS" and my filling out the form to recieve the coupons. I left the site when I realized there was a fee. I requested for them to stop and she told me I would be taken off the list.

After learning about the "coupon" PLEASE BEWARE of sites you may enter and check your bills and bank statements. What we take for granted, may be taken advantage of!!!

I also called my phone company about the situation, they suggested that I call my State Attorney General's Office or Consumer Protection Division also a State Dept., and report my phone bill.

Hopefully, this may help someone.

Here's why it's ripoff!!

AUTHOR: Kishma - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 02, 2005

It is a rip-off because you can enter anybody's phone number and end up with this service. Shouldn't ESBI (or its affiliates) have to verify that the person authorized to make changes to my phone service has authorized the service?

In my situation, ESBI says somebody I don't know (whose name they won't divulge) supposedly "accidentally" signed me up for this service.

So, I'm stuck with something I didn't want, can't use and I don't think it's legal. That's why it's a rip-off!!

ESBI-VoiceVox possibly not a scam or "rip-off"

AUTHOR: Gerald A. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 28, 2005

I, like many of the complainants against ESBI-VoiceVox at this site, found unexpected Voice Vox charges on my phone bill. It first irked me, but I later found out that I unknowingly had authorized the ensuing charge at another website.

I contacted ESBI to find out what the charges were for. I believe I went to their Inquiry Form at: http://www.esbi.com/inquiryform.asp and/or called them live at 1-888-288-3724. They actually sent me 2 PDF screenshots of my having placed the order; it was legitimate! I will now explain what had actually occurred:

Previously, I had seen an online offer to receive "$1000 in Name Brand Coupons" and proceeded to accept the offer. The webpage was: http://www.offerhost1.voice_form.php. I DID NOT read carefully on the left the following:

"With toll-free Voicemail Service, you can check your messages from anywhere in the United States. Your friends and family will be able to leave you messages using your own toll-free number. Voicemail Services can also send reminder calls and wake-up calls from anywhere in the continental US. No credit check or long-term contract is required. You will simply be billed a low monthly SERVICE FEE of $14.95 that will automatically be included on your phone bill. The charges will appear on your phone bill on the ESBI bill page as charges on behalf of Voicemail Services."

Perhaps this would apply also to others who have written in. NEXT TIME READ THE FINE PRINT CAREFULLY!!

Credit to phone bill

AUTHOR: Myrna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 24, 2005

I Called ESBI this morning 1-24-04 spoke with a Betty. Asked her if there were any way I could receive a refund for the money that has been paid to thier company. She went through the whole thing that we had given permission by filling out a form on the internet and hitting an accept button. She said she would be more than happy to send the terms of acceptance.

I told her I was in the process of sending a complaint to the State Attorney General's Office. She then said she was posting on my bill that there would be a credit. I could either send her a copy of the front of our phone bill with name of person who's billing name and address is on the front and to circle the phone number, it would take 2 or 3 months to show on our bill, or we could inform the phone company we wanted to deduct the amounts from the prior 3 months and they would have a note in our records.

I don't know if I want to send them a copy of my phone bill, but I am opting for contacting my phone company about what they had said about deducting the 3 months and letting the phone company know they they would be crediting our bill. I don't know if this is something they are telling people to get off their back. But she was fast in giving a recourse when I mentioned going to the State Attorney General's Office

The number I called was 1-888-302-3724, and the address she gave me to send my copy of the phone bill was:
Voicemail Services
P.O. Box 158
Forest Lake, Mn. 55025

Good Luck
