I won a medal in a small 4" x 5" presentation case through the Invaluable website on the Essex June 14 Auction. The website gives no shipping options.
I then got an invoice from Altair Auctions with the following shipping info;
WE DO NOT PROVIDE SHIIPPING.
FOR SHIPPING PLEASE…….LOOK FOR AN EMAIL QUOTE FROM : Swiftnorwood@gmail.com after you have paid for your winning lots.
WE DO REQUEST A THIRD PARTY SHIPPER SWIFT NORWOOD SHIPPING TO SEND YOU A SHIPPING QUOTE IF YOU CHOOSE TO APPROVE THE SHIPPING QUOTE BY EMAIL THEN YOUR WINNING LOTS WILL BE SHIPPED TO YOU.
IF YOU DO NOT OPEN AND APPROVE THE SHIPPING QUOTE EMAIL FROM THE THIRD PARTY SHIPPER YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR PAID FOR LOTS.
This shipping company is of course owned by the parent company of Essex so they in effect force you to use their shipper and charge unreasonable rates that you cannot dispute as I tried unsuccessfully to do. The shipper, Mike ,must be a relative of owner of Essex, Altair, Mr. Benjamin Wang. Mike eas nearly impossible to understand his English was so bad.
So, I got a shipping quote of $27.50 which is a total ripoff but unless I approve the quote and pay they will keep my auction win that I paid $66,00 for.
This is unethical double dipping and blackmail.

I am having the same issue with this company. I purchased an item from Essex auctions which weighs a few pounds and I got a shipping quote from the same 3rd party shipper, Swift in Norwood, MA. They want $58 to ship basically what is a folder to California! That is a huge ripoff and I would love to see and be involved in an investigation regarding this and what the other complaintant wrote. I am trying to find another way to have this item shipped to me.
