Extra Mile Remodeling and Construction Company was hired August 2, 2018 to fix the roof at my residence.  The roof was damaged during Hurricane Harvey and covered by Texas Windstorm insurance.  The claim for the Hurricane Harvey roof damage was filed on August 269, 2017 and the maximum payout amount was $9,000 to fix the whole roof.  Michael Guillory (Exta Mile Remodeling and Construction Company) was aware of the claim and the amount given to fix the roof.  When Michael Guillory was hired, his total amount for labor and materials, per his contract, was $9,000.  He was given $6,000 on August 2, 2018, as his contract stated that he should be paid that amount upon signing of the contract.

Michael Guillory was given $2500 on August 6, 2018.  His total fee was paid as of that date.  Work then began on the roof but was not fully completed.  Michael Guillory then asked for $2,000 more.  He stated that it was for supplies (shingles, nails, felt, decking).  The owner of the home then told him that she would go and pay for the supplies.  Michael Guillory got upset about that and said that he needed the cash money.  He was not going to be given anymore cash money.  He had already received his full fee for his contract.  If the money was indeed for supplies, the owner of the home should have been allowed to pay for them herself.  On August 21, 2018, the only work that was performed was scraping off of the old roof and replacing of rotten wood and boards and the application of felt paper.

We had a lot of rain that day and it started raining inside the house.  The owner of the home called Michael Guillory to make him aware of this.  He did not belive that it was raining inside the house so a video of it raining inside the house was sent to him by the owner of the home's daughter.  He apparently was not happy about the video and called the home owner's daughter saying that the owner of the home's son had promised to give him $2,000 at the first of the month and if he hadn't promised to give him the money he would've never taken the roof off (The homeowner's son never promised to give Michael Guillory $2,000).  Michael claimed that he was going to have to come out of pocked $200 to have an inspector come out to look at the roof and that he also needed an engineer to come out as well.

In the meantime, the roof is not being repaired.  The shingles for the roof are in the driveway and there has been no effort to put them on the roof.  Michael Guillory is asking for more money but no amended agreement has been made with himself and the homeowner.  Per the contract, the repair of the roof should be completed by September 1, 2018.  No work has been performed on the roof since Friday, August 17, 2018.  Owner of the home also paid for the permit for the roof to be repaired and for the dumpster for the trash to be put in.  That dumpster was delivered on August 13, 2018 and picked up on August 21, 2018.  For some reason, the pages of the contract will not upload to the report.

GETTING SUPER FRUSTRATED

AUTHOR: Khristella - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, September 27, 2018

On August 31, 2018, Mike Guillory sent a roofer out to the house, not to put shingles on the roof, but to put a tent around it.  After the tent was put on the roof, Mike Guillory asked the homeowner to count the remaining shingles that were left in the driveway.  36 packs of shings were left in the driveway.

No work had been performed on the rood since August 31, 2018.  Homeowner called Mike Guillory on September 5, 2018 to ask what was going on with the roof repair and he stated he was waiting on a response from an Engineer hoping to hear back from him by 5:00 p.m.  The call was placed to Mike Guillory at 4:00 p.m.  Homeowner did not hear back from Mike Guillory.

September 8, 2018, a roofer came out to the house and started putting shingles on the house.  September 14, 2018 was the last day the roofer came out.  There has been NO WORK performed on the roof since that date.

This is getting very frustrating because the roof was supposed to be completed by Septembe 1, 2018 per the contract with the contractor Mike Guillory.  It shouldn't have taken this long for the roof to be fixed.  Homeowner is now considering taking legal action and bringing the contractor to court.

Contractor's Reaction to being told he would get no more cash money

AUTHOR: Krispy Treat - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 28, 2018

When Mike Guillory of Extra Mile Remodeling Construction Company was told that he would get no more cash money because he's gotten the total his contract states, he got upset.  Homeowner said if the extra money needed was for supplies, as the contractor so claimed, that the homeowner would pay for the supplies, using a credit card.

Mike Guillory got very upset and said that he had the supplies, that he needed the cash money.  He's not getting anymore cash money.  He's gotten paid, UPFRONT, the money that he charged in his contract.  On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, it started raining in my residence and a call was placed to Mike Guillory about it.

His reaction was to tell the homeowner that she was going to lose her house becasue if he wasn't going to get anymore cash money, he wasn't going to do anymore work.  No work has been performed since the whole roof was taken off Augsut 17, 2018.  On August 22, 2018, the contractor came to the residence and threw his business cards all over the front lawn.  Supplies came up missing out of the driveway that day also.

CONTRACTOR'S REACTION TO BEING TOLD HE WOULD GET NO MORE CASH MONEY

AUTHOR: Krispy Treat - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 28, 2018

On August 27, 2018, a call was received from Burt Williams stating that it was urgent that I give him a call back.  It was about the Ripoff Report claim filed on August 21, 2018.  Apparently, the contractor, Mike Guillory was trying to make it seems as if the homeowner promised to give him $1,500.

On August 22, 2018, Mike Guillory called the homeowner and stated that a roofer would come out on August 23, 2018.  NO ROOFER CAME OUT.  The homeowner then called Mike Guillory August 27, 2018 and Mike Guillory stated that the roofer was on hold and that the money was over spent.  No work has been performed on the roof since August 17, 2018.
