Faithwriters is a nightmare to try to deal with!

My first red flag should have been that they have no phone number to call.  They also do not publish an email address or any other contact information.  The only thing they offer is a contact form.  After I signed up with them, there were immediately problems with payments, plus the near impossibility of communication.  A woman named Bea did finally email me back to fix the problem so my card would work.  After that, she would never respond to any further emails - and since there is no phone number to call - it's impossible to do anything with them.

I requested a cancellation after scouring their site looking for a cancellation policy and a way to do that.  Doesn't exist.  All I could do was email Bea, who would not respond, or fill out the contact form, which also never received a response.  In the meantime, Faithwriters continues to take money out of my account every month.  Even when I wrote threatening some form of action they ignore me.

I am so frustrated and angry with them!  They claim to be Christian, but act anything but Christ like.  They are not honorable in their dealings at all.  Maybe they are great for those who never have a problem or need to contact them, but for anyone who wants to cancel at some point - forget it - you can't get out.

FaithWriters is an Honest Company

AUTHOR: Allison - ()

POSTED: Saturday, August 10, 2013

I have been a member of FaithWriters for neary 8 years now, and I have never had any issues. As others have mentioned, it is important to make sure their e-mails are not going to your "spam" account. They do have contact e-mails listed. They also explain that you are making a one-year committment when you sign up for any paid membership.

FaithWriters is an honest Christian company, and the committment of the owners to their customers is very evident.

I've been a member of faithwriters for over 7 years and have found when I have had a problem it has been seen to. They are helpful christians at FWs and someone will always try to assist you if you are struggling (at least that's my experience).

I must point out I am from the UK and not Alabama as what seems to have been alloted to me. I did put in the UK when registering.

Good grief...

As a 30-year veteran of dealing in customer relations, the attitude expressed in this complaint comes as no surprise to me.  While it is not my place to determine if an actual problem existed or not, this type of overreaction is becoming all to common in today's narcissistic society when things don't happen exactly or as quickly as it is "assumed" they should - or especially if the customer is told "No" for some reason.  This is perceived as a threat to their elevated desire to be in control, brought about by low self-esteem.  Any consideration for their opponent's circumstances and/or requirements is non-existent.  Further proof of this attitude is clearly visible in their backhanded slap at Faithwriters' commitment to their Christian principles; in essence, they are saying, "My attitude is Christ-like and theirs is not."  This is narcissism in its purest form.

I have been a member of Faithwriters since January 2004 through two ownerships and have never encountered any of the problems stated in the above complaint while seeking help with a problem or otherwise.

#4 General Comment

Faithwriters.com is a Christian website

AUTHOR: tomoral - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 07, 2013

I am writing in response to the complaint filed against Faithwriters.com. I have been a member for a year and a half and have never experienced the type of complaints claimed by this member.

Mike and Bea Edwards have always repsonded to my emails and questions within a few hours. They are Christian people who would never, ever, rip a person off.

It is made clear in the agreement that the commitment for membership is a one year subscription. People should read this before signing up. If they do have sudden financial problems and cannnot pay, Mike will certainly understand and let them out of their agreement. That's the kind of people the owners of Faithwriters.com are.

I felt compelled to write this rebuttal because this complant is totally wrong!

FaithWriters is not a ripoff - ps

AUTHOR: Shari Armstrong - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 07, 2013

I forgot to mention that it is clearly stated on the site that when someone signs up for a paid membership, instead of the free membership, it is for a year:

AGREEMENT: By signing up to be a FaithWriters Gold member, you agree to remain a FaithWriters Gold member for at least one year. The value of the services and bonuses we include in your membership are way beyond the cost of your membership so we ask for at least a one year commitment.

*Your account will be automatically rebilled for another year unless you cancel prior to the renewal date. We do not give refunds once a rebilling occurs.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

FaithWriters is not a ripoff

AUTHOR: Shari Armstrong - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 07, 2013

I have been a long time member of FaithWriters, since 2005. FaithWriters is an amazingly loving and professional community and enabled me to find the courage to actually begin my freelance writing career.

If you do not get a response to an email, it is possible that it is a spam filter issue, as this has happened to people before, where the response was not delivered. If you are still having trouble contacting the FW owners through the contact form, there is a forum where many helpful people will point you in the right direction. http://www.faithwriters.com/Boards/phpBB2/index.php

As for the payment issues, there have been times that the payment company they used had glitches and was nothing on FW's end.

If FaithWriters were a ripoff, I have left the site years ago, instead of being a mod of the forum as well as attending the writing conferences held by the site.

I'm sorry you had difficutlies, but they will work with you. They had to change the membership to a year at a time, instead of monthly, as they had people sign up, get the messages that are only accessable as a paid member, and then quit. This was drastically hurting the funding to keep the site functioning and they had to change to the yearly membership. It can still be paid monthly, but it is made clear that the membership is for at least a year. I should point out that there are many parts of the website that are available with the completely free membership, however they had to change the membership perks in order to keep this site functioning.

Apology

AUTHOR: Bea from Faithwriters - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 07, 2013

I want to offer my apology that this person was so dismayed with their dealings at Faithwriters. I handle all incoming emails on a daily basis 7 days a week, and at various time throughout the day as we have a worldwide membership base.

However we have had issues with gmail, hotmail and a few other servers sending our responses to spam. We make a clear statement on the sign up page advising new memebrs to make us a contact on their email list to avoid issues but apparently this person did not do that. Again I do my best to make certain our members have a good experience and apologize that it appeared we were ignoring this person.

The majority of our members use the benefits of our site on a free basis and we do advise those signing up for the upgraded paid membership to be aware they are commiting to an annual membership agreement based upon the numerous benefits (writing lessons and paid writing contests to name but two) immediately accesible.

We have thousands of satisfied members (over 60,000) currently signed up and we work very hard to maintain a good reputation with our members.

The reason we have no phone number is that we are easily available by email and there are just 2 us managing office affairs.
