I contracted with Father & Sons Moving after a representative gave me the lowest of three estimates to pack and move me 15 minutes from my rental to my new purchase home.

On the day of packing, the packers were late (10 - 11 arriving) and then did not have sufficient supplies to pack the house. Many valuable pieces of art work were left to be wrapped in blankets. When the blankets were gone, the artwork was hand carried unwrapped onto the moving truck. I had no way of moving all the artwork in my vehicle and I was away for most of the afternoon with my closing.

The closing was delayed for 8 hours and I was charged almost twice the price of the original estimate for having my belongings in their truck until noon the next day. I agreed but had no choice, as my things were on their truck and we could not get into the house. I was told they would not charge me for the full day's usage on the phone. They were not able to load all of my belongings on one truck. They unloaded the truck the next day, made me go to the bank and do a draft for the moving. I refused to pay the entire amount until the second load had been delivered to my new house. At this point, they asked for a second cash payment before the furniture would be off loaded. I went to the bank and paid the driver.

The drivers constantly complained about how overworked and underpaid they were. I thought they were trying to make the best out of a bad situation. I bought them lunch and tipped each of them $20 at the end of the day.

As I began to survey my furnishings, I was sickened. Several collectibles were poorly packed in the bottom of a box with one piece of paper around them and heavier objects place on top of them. Furniture was badly scratched. Two weeks later as I unpacked the last of the boxes, my fears were confirmed. They movers had stolen my drill set with bits and a framed water color which was a Christmas gift from 20 years ago.

I was so sure of the lack of compassion from Father & Sons but I wanted to send them a letter to put the final close on this nightmare. They have no address listed in the phone book or on the web. While I was trying to find their address, I saw this website and was stunned. I wish I had known this information prior to my hiring them for my move.

My filing this report is doing two things for me. It gets the anger vented in a manner that will keep me out of the courts and jail, and it might help the next poor slob who is looking for a mover to handle his or here percious cargo and thinks Father and Sons Moving Company is the one to go with. NOT!!

I am on my way to Sears to buy a new drill to put up the blinds in my new house. Good luck with your move!
