Ferri Formals & Bridals, Inc. were recommended to my friend as the place to get both dresses and tuxes for her bridal party. We thought everything was OK, and even though the bridesmaid dresses had not arrived we were repeatedly assured that everything would be fine and would arrive in time. So when the wedding was three weeks away, we were again assured that the dresses would arrive in time. Finally, after a lot of pressure from the brides parents, it was discovered the dress maker had gone out of business and these gowns were not ordered. They had instead ordered a different dress without consulting with the bride. This was of course unacceptable and after much pressure and shouting at their busiest time of day, the brides father was finally able to get out of the contract (can you believe they wanted to hold us to a contract that THEY had broken???) and get a refund for the deposits each of the bridesmaids had put on the dress. One can only conclude that the reason for this was so that they can pawn off some reject dresses to the bridesmaids at the last minute. Instead we decided to go with someone else for the bridesmaid dresses. However, this shop was still in charge of the brides gown and the tuxes.

Thankfully, the bride's dress was fine and beautiful. So we waited for the tuxes, and waited, and waited some more and we assured they would be fine and arrive on time. They were supposed to be in on Tuesday, they were not. We had to wait until after 4:30 PM on Wednesday. This wedding was on a Friday. Two days. They finally arrived and the groomsman went in to pick them up. The lovely bridal shop insisted everyone pay before they even try them on. Of course, they did not fix right and everyone needed alterations. To be fair, that is not abnormal, what is abnormal is that instead of measuring us again, they tried to do the alterations by eye and they did that over and over again. And each time they did, they did not get it right. Either the shirt sleeves were too long, the button on the collar wasnt right, one pant leg was longer than the other. They were unable to get rid of a crease in several jacket sleeves. The groomsman and fathers went in two groups over two days and each group spent over two hours each on the fitting. In all, there were 8 men who had ordered tuxes. Each we found an imperfection they were quick to say there wasnt one. On the second day, they tried to kick us out of the store. A groomsmans fiancee was quick to point out that each one was spending nearly 200 dollars on a tux rental and we wanted to be sure it was right so they need to give us time to be sure it is right. You would think a bridal shop would understand this.

As if this all was not enough- one of the guys got the wrong size shirt. The arms were too short. Their solution was to replace the shirt with one that wasnt even close. Wrong color, wrong style, it wasnt an option, but this was their solution.

It took a lot of forceful convincing to eventually make them agree to order a new shirt and over night it, they agreed to deliver the shirt to the hotel where we were going to change. To our surprise the shirt delivered to the hotel was the wrong style, wrong color yet again. As if they did it on purpose. They even refused to replace the shirt with the right one. So one of our guys had to wear a shirt that was too small, because he couldnt wear the wrong style shirt.

They failed to include cufflinks for the grooms father and after telling us repeatedly they were included and we just needed to check the pockets again, they were persuaded to deliver a set to the hotel ASAP the afternoon of the wedding.

This was the worst experience dealing with any retail store. Ive had problems before with other retail stores, however, they were all willing to rectify the situation with money back, replacement or any other way. Ferri Formals was not so willing to accommodate. It was ridiculous. I would never recommend this business to anyone.

Exceptional Service at Ferri's

AUTHOR: K. L. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 04, 2008

I had a wonderful wedding experience at Ferri Formals and Bridals. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Marylu and Lena are extremely knowledgeable and professional. On my first trip to the shop I tried on several gowns ranging from bargain priced, all the way up to Vera Wang. They have gowns for every style and budget. There were so many gorgeous dresses but I still hadn't found the one. Then Marylu called to tell me that she had just gotten in a new gown that she thought I might like. I went in to try it on and knew right away that this was the dress I would be wearing on my wedding day. Marylu and her staff were very attentive and went out of their way to help me find the perfect wedding dress and accessories.

I ordered the dresses for my bridesmaids there as well. Three of my bridesmaids live out of town and the staff was very flexible when it came to scheduling dress fittings and pick-ups. One of my bridesmaids was planning a wedding around the same time as I was. She was so impressed with the service that my bridal party received that she chose to purchase her bridesmaids dresses at Ferri's as well, even though she lives in North Carolina.

My mother is a plus-size woman who is very uncomfortable wearing dresses. Marylu put my mother at ease and helped her select a stunning Mother of the Bride gown that she felt beautiful in. All of the gowns, mine especially, were absolutely perfect! I had been to other bridal shops when planning my own wedding and have been to several as a bridesmaid and that service at Ferri's is unbeatable! I couldn't have been happier with my experience and would recommend Ferri Formals and Bridals to any bride.

Simply the best bridal and wedding salon in the Capital District.

AUTHOR: Saratoga Bride - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 03, 2008

My sister and I both used Ferri Formals and Bridals for our weddings in 2004 and 2007 (bridesmaids dresses and wedding gowns). In the middle of all of our wedding craziness, Marylu and the staff at Ferri's (Lena! :)) kept us calm, reassured and, ultimately, beautifully dressed. Every nervous-bride worry and/or question we had was answered and addressed timely.

The report filed above seems to unfairly make the salon responsible for circumstances beyond its control (i.e. the designer going out of business). Even by the author's own admission, Ferri Formals continued to work to help them through the issues right up to the day of the wedding. Having spent a fair amount of time in the salon over the course of the last several years, I can personally attest to witnessing the demanding, overbearing, wedding-crazed brides and their families who stamp and scream at this staff on a daily basis. Marylu and her staff take it in stride and never sweat. I cannot imagine how trying and difficult it must be to have a woman's most important day riding on your shoulders and always come through; time and time again.

I promise anyone reading this response that if they want a superior-quality, impeccably tailored wedding gown, the ONLY place to go in the entire region is Ferri Formals. After all, isn't it about looking and feeling the best you can on your big day? I would suggest that the author of this report follow Marylu's example and not sweat the small stuff. Sounds like that had one heck of a wedding and the bride was gorgeous. That's all that really matters at the end of the day.

Ferri Formals has a wonderful staff and wonderful service

AUTHOR: Kate - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 02, 2008

Ferri Formals gave me the most personal and detailed attention when buying my wedding gown and picking my bridesmaid dresses. Every member of the staff was so kind, so helpful, so reliable, and so knowledgeable. They really felt like a part of my extended wedding family!

Buying and fitting my gown, thanks to Ferri Formals, was one of the major highlights of my entire wedding experience. They asked me many questions when getting started to figure out exactly what I liked and tried to match a dress to my personal style and personality. I felt like they made an effort to really get to know me, something I did not experience at any other bridal salon.

As for my dress itself, they pretty much had to rebuild the entire top half of the gown since I purchased a dress that was a size too small (it was a sample and the only one in house- we knew it would need a lot of work when I picked it). The handiwork was beyond perfect. They created a piece of art that was, in my opinion, more superior and more beautiful than the original. It became a one of a kind dress and they worked with me to make every detail perfect. I wouldn't have gone anywhere else and would recommend Ferri Formals to anyone getting married.

Ferri staff works hard to make our customers happy.

AUTHOR: Ferri's Staff - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 24, 2008

We at Ferri Formal and Bridals take our position very seriously. We try to make the wedding process of all our brides as wonderful as possible. Unfortunately there are often unforeseen circumstances.

The bridal party being referenced had ordered lovely Watters and Watters dresses, a company in business for 21 years. The order was placed in early January, after all deposits were received and the women measured. The expected shipping date was mid March. Due to an extremely high seasonal volume a short delay was not wholly unexpected. After receiving a call from the bride at the end of March, we contacted the company several times and were assured that we would receive them on time. In April after not receiving a firm delivery date, our owner was concerned enough to contact several other manufacturers to offer three options in similar styles and colors ready for the bride's approval. We also ordered dresses at our expense as insurance and offered free alterations on any of the styles. The deposits were of course refunded because the important thing was to keep the focus on the bride. The bridal party chose to find their dresses elsewhere. Upon our request the bride received an apology, a call from the president of Watters and Watters, explaining the closure of the fabric factory in China and the need to find a new domestic source had delayed all production.

The 6 (not 8) tuxedos, were indeed requested to be in on Tuesday. On Monday we were told by Jim's Formal Wear that due to the proms this was the busiest week and the tuxedos would be in on Wednesday. The bride and grooms parents were informed. As tuxedos always need minor alterations to provide a custom fit, we had several extra staff and tailors to help when the party came in on Wednesday. One pair of pants did require extra attention, the gentleman having one leg shorter than the other. All requests were attended to and everything was done to accommodate them, including extending store hours. The day before the wedding the groom came in with an out of town groomsman for both to be fit. The groom looked excellent and was pleased. The other gentleman's tux fit well but he preferred a shirt with longer sleeves. We attempted to provide him with one from in house stock but were unable to do so.

We ordered a shirt for overnight delivery, which was delivered to the hotel along with the cufflinks that had been inadvertently left in our dressing room and an extra set. The shirt was the same color and collar, but had vertical pleats that would have been hidden by the vest. The company had been able to fill the original order with matching shirts, however due to the proms they were not able to send an exact match. Upon a call from this groomsman we apologized profusely and immediately refunded the $170 for the rental of his designer Calvin Klein tuxedo, and he chose to wear the original shirt.

We were pleased to hear that the bride looked beautiful in her dress. When her father returned his tuxedo on Saturday he told the staff of his satisfaction with the final outcome. He was unaware of any other issues and noticed nothing wrong with the out of town groomsman. We gave the bride complimentary gown preservation, with a value of $300 to show our good wishes and understanding of the problems with the bridesmaid dresses.

We pride ourselves on good customer relations and our many happy customers continue to recommend us after 20 years in service. Thank you for the opportunity to respond.
