Fieldstone Trace--Ardent Properties LIVING IN THE NEIGHBOR'S ASHTRAY! Westerville, Ohio

I moved to Columbus after getting a job here. I came to this apartment community with average expectations. I told the people in the office that I had children with asthma and could not tolerate cigarette smoke. They in no way disclosed that if the neighbors smoke it would come into our unit.

These are supposed to be town homes. I have a separate furnace and an air conditioning unit. But, sure as the world all the neighbor has to do is light up. My bed smells like an ashtray. I suspect part of the reason this is, is because there may not be insulation in the walls (or insufficient insulation). I can hear the next door neighbor's tv with clarity of what program they watch. I can hear the next door neighbor peeing when I am in the bathroom and he goes to the bathroom. 

When I asked them to allow me to move to a different unit, they told me there was nothing they could do. The holes in the walls to the bathroom sinks are larger than the plumbing, so I had to take rags and stuff the holes to try and keep some of the smoke down. 

Ardent properties has left a very bad taste in my mouth for renting a town home. I can deal with moving into a dirty unit, with no refrigerator shelves and grease all over the floor of my garage. I can deal with almost anything except second hand smoke and having to live on inhalers. 

I would not wish this situation on my worst enemy.
