Money is in the account. Direct Deposit has money in the account. Still charged fees. even that the Money covered it.

I had Stopped Payment on a Check that is post dated One week ahead of date. Charged Fees.
The bank Says there is a mistake. my Bank Refuse to correct the problem. Same Day Deposit. Fifth Third Also Put Checks ahead of Deposit on same day.

Check coming in that night of Direct Deposit They Charged overdraft fees the same day. They are getting away with it.

What causes overdrafts

AUTHOR: Ken - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 02, 2007

Please don't think I am unsympathetic, because I do believe that the banks have crossed the line on the amount of fees, but you make the statement to the effect that the banks posts checks before deposits, and that causes overdrafts. Not so. What caused the overdrafts is that you wrote checks when there wasn't funds already in the account to cover them. You are playing the float game, and getting burned is inevitable.

Same Problem

AUTHOR: Beth - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 02, 2007

My husband had the same problem with Fifth Third Bank. His direct deposit would be at the bank at 12:01 am and they would post it LAST, which, would cause overdrafts. He closed his account. I kept mine and am now being ripped off by them. I should have learned by his mistakes.
