In February, we ordered a table from Fingerhut. Two months later we finally got the table. We paid in full for the table when we ordered it. One piece was damaged while being shipped to us (never made it to our door). Piece was returned to Fingerhut by FedEx, not us.
We had to call in mid-April to get the third piece, the damaged one, reshipped. They said that the balance for the third piece would be credited to our account. They never said anything about charging the reshipped piece to the account.
We have now received a bill for $116.66 for the third piece. I have talked to three different people at Fingerhut, all with different stories about how things are taken care of. One said that we would receive a refund check for the amount of the third piece in the mail; one said it would be electronically transferred to the checking account the check was drawn from, and the last one said that we had to call and tell them what we wanted them to do with the money that was supposedly credited to our account. He said the only thing they could do with the money was issue a check for a refund. But the check was never mailed.
So we have a bill from them for a piece of a table, that was paid for in full when we ordered it, that they say we now have to pay or we will incur late fees. He says all we have to do is make payments of $9.99 until we receive the check and then pay the remaining balance. Why should we have to pay for something that we already paid for? We paid it in full so we would not have to make any payments, or interest.
