This company is total scam! Job seekers beware - please do not waste your time!
Upon applying for this position, I received a phone call immediately telling me that they were extremely interested in my resume for an "ambassador" position for Children's International and would like to have me come in for a job interview as soon as possible.  They even sent me a link to the Children's international site.

As a recent college grad who has been out of work for six months, I was very excited to finally have an interview, woke up early, dressed up in my best suit and arrived 30 mins early, with resume' in hand. To my surprise I was also surrounded by a waiting room full of similarly eager applicants. I was greeted by a receptionist who handed me a simple one page application on a clip board and asked me to attach a copy of my resume when I was finished.

While I was filling out the application, I noticed the room began to thin out, and none of the applicants ever returned back out into the lobby. After I handed her my resume and application, I was ushered to a back room, which looked more like a storage closet, filled with boxes and supplies.

I then began my interview. The man who was interviewing me proceeded to tell me " you know we are not actually Children's international right?" .. we just represent companies like them.  He went on say that the job basically consisted of going door to door, trying to get sponsorships, and sometimes working events such as in the mall or cold calling people asking for donations.
When I asked what the pay was , he said .. " it varies", but you are paid on salary, there is no hourly wage, but there is the ability to make commision. I said, yes, but i'm sure there are days where you do not sell anything.. how are you paid for those days.. and he bluntly said " well then we fire you".   So basically, I could work and entire week, and if I don't sell / scam someone into buying a sponsorship for Children's Inc, i've now used my personal car to drive around all week for FREE, AND you I've worked ALL week for FREE?? ..

This company is such a scam, and what they are doing is totally illegal. They are finding so many ways not to compensate their employees for time worked and their own personal mileage used in their vehicles as part of their on the job travel. Additionally they are also asking people to shadow a second day, and work all day, without any sort of compensation, and I believe this is a way of them getting people to simply work for free, without any intention of ever hiring them.

It's disgraceful that there are companies like this that prey on people who are simply down on their luck, desperate for any kind of work. Please, if you have taken the time to read this.. do your research, and don't waste your time!

There are several types of companies out there like this in the Orlando area, which all have almost identical methods of interviewing and hiring processing.  If you are the least bit skeptical, ask questions on the phone, ask for a company website, and google them prior to your interview.. before you waste your time!
