The information provided in this report below is based on comments made by Scott Berman during an onsite inspection held by a third party verification company with no biases towards Florida Window and Door.

Florida Window and Door is a replacement window and door company that services customers throughout the state of Florida. They typically work on replacing windows and doors that are non-impact in consumer's homes, businesses, and condominiums. From their Scott Berman explained that they ensure their clients have, "hurricane compliant with impact resistant windows and doors."

Leads for Florida Window and Door are generated through referrals from previous customers, contractors, designers, as well as other professionals. In addition to referrals they utilize different marketing strategies to obtain leads. Mr. Berman went on to describe the sales process for his company, "somebody will call us, and we’ll send a sales technician out to the residence or the business. [We] give them a quote for the work that they require. Assuming they go ahead with the product we then will send the measure technician out to measure the exact size of the window, and send a permit application out to the consumer." After they get the measurements back, and the permit application back they begin production of the product as well as submission of the permit to the municipality.





CUSTOMER CARE & COMPLAINT RESOLUTION – FLORIDA WINDOW AND DOOR

During the onsite interview Mr. Berman was asked to describe a situation where a client was not satisfied with the level of service they received. Mr. Berman expressed that their most common complaint is in reference to time frame and delivery of product. Mr. Berman additionally expressed that typically their clients live in gated communities or communities governed by the home owners association. He further stated, "in order to do window or door replacement in a community that’s governed by an association we need that home owners association approval. We can’t begin production until that approval is given." This will often lead to a delay in product. In order to assure the client is fully aware of this, "through conditions in our contract and additional correspondence to communicate with our customers in regard to the respective time frame and the respective approval."

When asked to comment on complaints posted on Ripoff Report's website Mr. Berman stated the following, "a consumer had bought a patio door from us for an enclosure of their patio. When we went to submit to the city for the work to be done the city inquired how we were going to fix the patio door to the ground because there was no cement slab according to the city records. When we advised the city that in fact there was an existing cement slab, the city determined that the contractor and homeowner had no permitted that slab and as a result prohibited us from pulling the permit." In order to assure future and current clientele Mr. Berman has been in business for 25 years, and Florida Window and Door is a licensed general contractor which allows them to do more than just window and door replacements. Mr. Berman additionally stated, "our company and our staff are 100% committed to satisfying our customer to the best of their ability regardless of whether they file a complaint online with the BBB or any other agency. We want our customers to be satisfied."

Cannot determine reasons for delay but our contract does state an approximate timeline and we hit that timeline 98.8% of time. Permit fee is 5% that is also in the contract and consistent with costs associated with permits and running fees including engineering when applicable. If job took more than 12 weeks it was due to an approval process required. We do not repair nor paint and cannot comment on price as we are competitive in the marketplace

Ordered One window and one door in November 2012. In Feb 2013 got the install. What a hackjob. They tell you when you order you will just have to paint. The concrete stucco mess they caked onto painted stucco did not stick. I had to scrape for hours around the window and restucco. Inside I had to replace moldings. They cut my alarm wires, sheetrock mud them into the wall and tell you to call your alarm company. They left a mess in the yard and a mess in the driveway. The slider screen handel hits the handel of the slider. (total design flaw)

Called them about these problems and they tell you that they will look into it and call you back. When I called a week later they said "we will call you back" Still have not called me back. I found out that they overcharged me for a permit and their prices are HIGHER than other impact glass installers. $5000. for one door and one window installed 3 months after order.  Now add my time to clean up, redo stucco, moldings, paint and have an alarm co install sensors. I forgot to mention the 4 screws that they leftout and the 3 not even tightened. I had to add screws so the job would pass inspection from the County.
