I regretfully was a Ford Credit Employee. Let me tell you. It was a detestable experience. Everything from the 6 week orientation(yes, I said SIX weeks! Can some one say, 'NO TRUE individual opinions!') to the disgusting pretense of a "Customer Service Collections Rep", it was an awful thing to be a part of. I say this as a true ''free" American, with a conscience of DECENT morals, that is all. I could go on for hours, but I will stick to "Customer Service Collection Reps SERVING clients". Let me also add that I am a college graduate. I'm not saying this as a means that I am any better than anyone else, just a note to add why I COULD not adapt to Ford Credit's Cult. Frankly, I don't need to, unlike the majority of uneducated dead-end bound lifeless beings working there. Sad to say, only ignorant people with no idea of what they are worth are willing to accept being called a Ford Credit employee. My point being, the reason Ford Credit screws so many clients is because of the complete disregard and carelessness of the 'Customre Service Collections Rep'. These people make hundreds of calls per day and there is no incentive for them collecting. In addition, they are overworked. If paperwork gets lost in the mail or something is not documented in the system correctly(which is most often the case), too bad. Do not EVER expect Ford Credit to admit their mistakes. And trust me, there are plenty.
Ford Credit Employee Bottom line;---WHO CARES.
These are not happy employees. This greatly influences the whole Ford Credit experience from a clients point of view.

#10 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Employees

AUTHOR: Nafmc2008 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 24, 2009

I want to make the record clear that some of the things in the article are true but alot is not. The area where I worked was not filled with people who dont care in fact we were people who got angry with different worksites that did what the author stated he/she did. When a customer was not helped properly and I had to handle their account, I regularly had to fix the error of prior reps. I have gone anywhere from having information faxed to me then fowarding it to he right department to having to do indepth research on finding missing payments. I know that irresponsible employees see it as a given to just collect and move on but if a customer is calm and explains things clearly then a proper resolution can be acheived. I worked at fmcc for about 8 months and honestly I was driven crazy by the nature (very repetative) and customers that didnt want to admit their lack of respect or responsibility. If you deal with a collector realize that they dont want to hear " the economy is bad, dont you watch the news," now why didn i think of that, of course!!! The most fustrating is putting your kid on the line, "no my mom isnt here, no one is here, my dad is in the bathroom," even better when you hear the parent is the background "tell them im asleep."

Brainwashing Employees?

AUTHOR: Formermgr - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 14, 2008

If you were a new employee that did have a college education, you would be in the minority at the Henderson Service Center. I like that you make a point that you don't think you are better than anyone else because of it, but why would you even mention it, then? You then mention the "uneducated...lifeless beings" that work there. Does that mean those that have an education are not "lifeless beings"? I suspect that you felt bad that this was the best job you could get at the time with your degree. The pay was decent, I would suspect, but the prospect of calling people all day to attempt to collect their past due payments was a little degrading to you. Whatever.

The anger you display towards your former employer gives way to criticism that is not backed up, however. Brainwashing? Just because you had a six week orientation doesn't mean that you were brainwashed. I would think that is a good sign that a company wants to give you six weeks of training before they put you on the phone with their customers.

You state, "Only ignorant people with no idea of what they are worth are willing to accept being called a Ford Credit employee." As an ex-employee myself, I think you are painting with a pretty broad brush, aren't you? Certainly, there were more than a few ignorant, lazy employees there, but calling everyone who works there "ignorant" is tad bit overdramatic.

Ford Credit "screws so many clients" how? It would be beneficial to the reader to find out how you were "screwing" the client. Did you try to stop it but someone were thwarted by your supervisor or manager? Doubtful.

One final comment from me. You state that if something is lost in the mail or not documented in the system correctly, then it's "too bad." I just have to laugh thinking that you thought the computer system was too difficult, arcane or some other excuse as to why something was mis-documented. Was the six week training period not enough for you? The computer system was easy when you started. Upgraded may have made it difficult, but if a 86 yr old employee who can't remember her password every day can figure it out, why can't you. (No, I am not the 86 yr. old, just the one who had to change her password every day. And yes, she was a good employee.)

The Ford Motor Credit RippOFF. Poor brainwashed FC employees

AUTHOR: Ex-ford Employee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 13, 2008

To the poor brainwashed Ford Credit employee who says FC was great place to work and that I must have been disgruntled;
I guess having an opinion and writing about what you saw makes a person a disgruntled employee. Did you work in the collections department? If you did, then you can not honestly say what you said. If you did not, then you are just another brainwashed employee trying to save face for FC, but have know idea how the collection department actually works. I am pretty sure this is you. I am or was never a disgruntled employee and took pride in my job. And by the way, was probably the most positive and dependable person a client could talk to.

On the other hand, most of the other collections reps were completely negative people and downright rude to clients. (Not to mention them totally screwing clients by not doing their job properly) It looked to me like most enjoyed "screwing" the customer even more. The bottom line; if you are a client in collections with Ford Motor Credit, there is a VERY good chance you are being RIPPED OFF!!! Not directly, but by the "Collections Rep" you are speaking with on the phone. Most Ford Motor Credit Collections Reps would be considered ignorant people and DO NOt CARE.

Clients should definately record all conversations. Sure, I did not like the job. I also do not enjoy watching people getting ripped off by hopeless employees. If that makes me disgruntled, then by all means; I was a disgruntled Ford Motor Credit employee.

POSTED: Wednesday, March 12, 2008

Look man every vehicle can start a fire and vehicle manf. knows about defects every day but never says anything about it but are most happy to fix it when it brakes because they know there secret. I have worked for Caterpillar for 13 years in the field repairing earth movers and I know when a certain part is a known defect and causes problems on a machine and so does Caterpillar but nothing is said case in point software on the D8T is bad and corrupted for the first 2 years it came out no matter how many updates and new software files where made the problem stayed the same we all knew but never said any thing because we told not to because why every one would go stupid over something that is nothing all the software did was make a warning light come on and go off but it was a glitch did not affect the machine and as far as the targeting goes every one is a target for something I am so tired of hearing about black this, mexican that, white this, I am white but hell you don't hear me complain when some one trys to rip off me or when I am a certified fire fighter and so is my cousin when we test every month and the only people they can hire is black or mexican or some foreigner because of the minority hiring laws get my point there will always be this because someone feels like there is racism going on.

Ford Motor Credit is a great company! I worked there too.

AUTHOR: John Doe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 05, 2008

I am also a college graduate who worked for Ford Motor Credit. I happily and proudly worked at Ford Motor Credit for five years. Ford Motor Credit offers awesome benefits and provides a very ethical work environment.

You sound like a VERY disgruntled employee! All companies unfortunately encounter those who are disgruntled and do not have the proper work ethic. It makes me sick to think of people that would work there and purposefully not document accounts accurately. This is really very sad and scary that just because someone is a disgruntled employee that they would try to hurt the company by hurting the customer!!!

Ford Motor Credit emphasizes customer and employee satisfaction above all else. Like all successful companies they realize that this is what makes their business successful. You cannot make ALL customers happy (just as you cannot make all employees happy.) You worked in the collections department, this is a very difficult and often times unhappy position. You had to deal with so many of the small percentage of customers who are not happy - they cannot pay the loan that they owe and often times feel that they should not have to pay it either.

Ford Motor Credit is a great place to work but just like they preach - it is the few unsatisfied customers (or the unsatisfied employee in your case) that spreads negative word faster than the mass of satisfied people who don't speak out.

Amen to that.

AUTHOR: Chris - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 03, 2008

I used to work here too. Everything that was said is 100% on the money. If I ever ran into a problem dealing with a persons account, my supervisors response would always pretty much be, "Oh well, who cares? Just document what was said and leave it to the next person." I know a lot of people who I talked to just ended up getting screwed in the end.

Moral of the story? Buy Toyota.

The FORD CREDIT Rip-OFF!!! Dont miss the point!

AUTHOR: Ex-ford employee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 28, 2008

I agree with the part about changing jobs. The job was terrible. That is not the point. The point is clients are getting screwed over because there is a massive lack of motivation to truly help the client "get back on track". By not properly documenting calls correctly, mailing deferment paperwork, following up with the customers, offering extensions, ETC, ETC, (Just making sure everything is done correctly, which in favor will help the customer)the customer is getting RIPPED OFF and paying TONS of extra fees that were primarily the Customer Collections Service Reps fault!! The simple fact is MOST of the employees that work there do not give a rats a*s about a Clients hardship or delinquency. (Most enjoy it) They are getting paid hourly either way. The only motivation is getting their bi-weekly paycheck and bringing cookies into work to eat all day. Customers are getting RIPPED OFF everyday. I've seen it. Ford Credit will very rarely accept responsibility for there employees mistakes. It is like a cult that sticks together, allowing irresponsibility and ultimately ripping people off! THAT IS A RIPP OFF! Its just in the fine print.

Where's the Rip Off?

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 28, 2008

I've read and re-read your post and there is something missing- there's no Rip Off here! It just sounds like you did not like your job, and that's hardly being ripped off. Lots of people are unhappy with thier jobs. They (and you) are free to change employers at their leisure.

Oh, and it seems a paycheck should be "incentive for them collecting".
