I found this website through a news channel website, I clicked it and signed up for a seven day trial. I cancelled my membership after five days, and when I viewed my credit card statement, I seen that they had charged me $24.95.

I called the number on my statement to get a refund, because I was never seen anywhere that there was a charge for this service. They tell me that I clicked on the tab to view all three scores and that was for the charge.

They said that they could only refund $10.00 because they are charged for this. I understand that, all I want is for them to show that $24.95 on the tab you have to click, because if that would have been there, I would have not clicked the tab.

Scammed Also watch out for "click here" options

AUTHOR: Frank - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Freecreditscore.com is a total scam period.  You do not get your "3 credit scores" for free.  Unless you unwittingly "click here" to get your 3 scores (which are not FICO scores but some BS plus scores).  By "clicking here" you are in fact charging yourself 31.95 without realizing it.  What you think you signed up fora free trial is now a PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP.  This site is a total scam you are not getting accurate info.  Please avoid freecreditscore.com

Ken you appear to still be confused..

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 07, 2010

Based on your updates you still appear to be a bit confused.  So here it is in very simple terms.

You are allowed one free credit report from each of the main three Credit Reporting Agencies per year.  The ONLY place you can get this from is from the Government mandated site at

(((Redacted)))

If you go through any other site you are probably going to end up signing for some service.

Also, as for not minding to pay a $1.  Again, any time you enter your credit card number you MUST read every bit of fine print.  Because $1 is rarely $1 as you found out.  This not only goes for Credit Reports but anytime you enter your personal information on-line or sign any contracts or finanical agreements in the "real world".

AUTHOR: Ken - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 07, 2010

Thanks for the reply, but I can tell you that I did not go that route, or should I say that I did not mean to go that route. I gave my credit card information for the $1.00 charge, and got charged the $24.95...

Free Credit Score

AUTHOR: Ken - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 07, 2010

Yes, I was at freecreditscore.com, and it appears that I missed it. I don't remember seeing it at all, and it goes back to the old saying, nothing in life is free.

Thanks for the reply...

Three Reports

AUTHOR: Ken - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 07, 2010

No, I did not get all three reports, but I did get all three scores. After reading several of the updates left my members, apparently I missed where is stated that it was $24.95.

I know that you can get your credit report for free, at freecreditreport.com, the scores is what cost you. I guess I should have noticed that it stated freecreditscore, and not freecreditscores!

Thanks for the reply...

Different names...

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, December 06, 2010

I had searched freecreditscore and ended up on freecreditreport.  This may explain the different screen offers.

But, when you check freecreditscore on the BBB website..it lists the web address as freecreditreport so it seems they are one in the same.

You have to be careful with anything that implies "free"..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, December 06, 2010

However I have used them once before and did not pay a dime. You just have to be careful. I called them right away to cancel any "enrollments". They were quite pushy to get me to enroll into something, but I remained persistent and did not get any charges. Lots of annoying phone solicitations and emails followed, but no charges. I regret even trying them for free..but I did avoid any charges by being savvy, persistant and suspect.

They have several options and it is easy to get sucked into a membership enrollment..which you can cancel. If you do not physically cancel, which is what they are counting on..you are enrolled. Then you must pay..even if you later cancel..and may only get a partial refund if any. You have 9 days to avoid a charge.

First option is the "free" one...but you only get a "report", not score...

Free Credit Report Delivered in 2 Days

  • May take up to 2 days to see your Report
  • Credit Score not included in this offer
  • No membership required
As long as you choose nothing else, you will not get billed anything..but you need to let them know within 9 days or you will be enrolled..it says this underneath..It can be deceiving by the statement "No membership required", because that implies you will not be enrolled at all, but you actually are enrolling...

*Monitoring with Experian begins within 48 hours of enrollment in your free trial. Monitoring with Equifax and TransUnion takes approximately 4 days to begin, though in some cases cannot be initiated during your trial period. You may cancel your trial membership any time within 9 days of enrollment without charge.

Second choice however you need to be aware..many will choose it because they are impatient and like "instant"...be beware..

Get Your Instant Credit Report & Score for $1

  • See your Credit Report & Score instantly
  • Find out which factors affect your Score
  • Be alerted when your Score goes up or down
Hmmm, seems great, only $1.00, instant report AND score. But it says on the very TOP of the homepage which is easy to miss becuase in order to click the link for the $1.00 offer, the following "important information" is off the screen..

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
When you order your $1 Credit Report and Score here, you will begin your 7-day trial membership in Triple Advantage. If you dont cancel your membership within the 7-day trial period*, you will be billed $14.95 for each month that you continue your membership. You may cancel your trial membership anytime within the trial period without charge.

On this "deal" it is not claimed as "free" but "risk free"..that is if you notice this info and physically cancel within 7 days. It does state you can cancel at anytime without charge..but trust me, this does not mean you will get a refund, partial or total. Bear in mind, that it is fact that many who submit account information on this option, think they are only going to be charged one dollar. So it is the consumers fault if they did not read carefully enough. However, the way this site operates is very suspect, and it is obvious they are depending on a percentage (perhaps majority) of their revenue coming from people who are unaware they are authorizing an enrollment. Common, common internet tactic.

As far as the $24.95, that is apparently another option but I did not see this on the homepage. The screen shot left by another consumer does clearly show as evidence, that the charges were not hidden. However, I do not trust a site like this regardless..too many red flags. I am also suspect about the first line in the report..that this site was found on a "news channel" website. I notice many of these sites are not actual news sites..but just made to look like news channel websites to give a false sense of legitimacy to the scam site(s) that it promotes. Using deception such as this does not go hand in hand with ethics. Not saying this is the case since the poster did not tell us the news channel site, but it could be possible, and the deception is used by penny auctions, tooth whiteners, Acai berries etc..typically sites that have one of many things in common, massive reports that they trick people into charges.

Stay off that website, it does not have the right scores anyway!

AUTHOR: MovingForward - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, December 06, 2010

That particular website is a scam. Those scores that you are paying for are not even FICO scores, they are FAKO scores. The only place you can get your consumer FICO score is myFICO dot com.  And you can only get two of the three scores because Experian no longer sells FICO scores to consumers - only to lenders.

The score they sold you is the PLUS score which has no meaning in the lending community now. It is just a score using another formula that Experian is pushing to make money.

There are all kinds of credit scores now - every CRA has their own formula that they use. They sell those scores to the consumers knowing full well that the lenders don't use those scores.

Notice on their website they DON'T say FICO score? If you are concerned about your credit scores and what to know what they are, at least get a consumer version of the score that the lenders use to determine your credit worthiness (FICO). All the others are a waste of money, time and effort.

The fee is there

AUTHOR: BigM - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, December 06, 2010

I read your compliant. I am a member of freecreditscore.com and have ordered my three scores before (you get your score from one bureau for free, but you have to pay the $24.95 if you want all 3).

It sucks to have to pay for all of them, but they have to make money and the info about the fee is there. I just logged into my account and looked at the # score purchase option and it says pretty clearly "3 Bureau Credit Report with 3 PLUS Scores, Price $24.95."

Plus, they request your credit card info and in order to get your scores, you have to enter it and read the paragraph above where you enter your info. It says in BOLD, "Your credit card will be charged $24.95 once your report is ready to view."

Pretty hard to miss. Are you sure you were on freecreditscore.com's website? Maybe you were on a different company's site, cause this one makes it pretty clear that you are paying for the extra scores and reports.

Did you get?

AUTHOR: Susan - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, December 06, 2010

Did you get your credit report from all three? If so $24.95 was a deal that might have a contract attached.

In the future watch what you click,  AND read the Terms of Service before you give your bank account info anyone.
