Galore Moving And Storage ripoff, Goods held hostage, possibly stolen Winnetka California

We hired Galore moving and storage in early June, 2004 to move our stuff from CA to VT. The people galore hired to move our stuff were very unprofessional, and charged us a lot of money for packing materials we did not need.

Galore was supposed to delivery our things in 7-21 days. Today August 30, 2004 we still have not received our goods. Here is the story:
Galore made several poor excuses for why our stuff was late. One of which was that their truck broke down (a broken drive shaft, which they later admitted never happened. They also told us our stuff was on the east coast, and then a week later told us it was just leaving the west coast.

Finally Galore called us on a saturday night demanding cash or money order for the remaining bill, we already paid them over $1000. Our shipment was based on weight and because of all the dishonesty we wanted our shipment weighed in front of us. Galore refused to weigh our shipment. The banks are closed on the weekend and so are the weigh stations...how conveinant. Dispite this we decided to pay Galore because we wanted our stuff! Now the driver for Galore claims that he can not get in touch with Ely the Owner and therefore can not deliver. Ely told us that we refused payment (we did not!) and he supposidly turned the truck around and went back to CA. Galore was probalby never in VT, but now Ely was demanding that we wire him an additional $2000! All lawyers told us to never do this. They probably still wouldn't deliver even if they had the extra money. Now we are seeking legal action and it doesn't look like Galore still has our stuff. They are a total ripoff!!! They drive up to your house, and you pay them to steal your stuff!!!
