This happens every year not only to me but all Georgia Power residents,they charge outrageous fees per KWH during the summer mnths to make a overwheming profit from the the public and they double all their BS fees when they double their rates ,why are they allowed to rip the customer off like this for example my bill last month was 165.00 that was May 2014.My bill I revcd in june is 302.00 now keep in mind I do not use my A/C AT ALL,Last mnths fees were 30.00 this month doubled to 60.00 Ii dont get it why do the ridiculous fees they charge have to double along with the rate increase,I think somebody should look into their fees and see if they are legal,they are making a killing off the poor and nobody cares,I wish I could do it it but I dont know where to begin or how,Georia Power is a total rip off,i know all companies do this and it sucks,
they charge you for their service and then they want you to pay the bills for them in the ridculous fees!

Most power companies have to purchase power futures to have enough power available in the summer. This drives their costs up, so whether or NOT you use you A/C, the tier pricing applys.
Where I live, in the summer, I pay about 9 cents/kwh (with fees) for the first 500kwh and about 18 cents/kwh (with fees) for anything in excess of 500kwh. My research shows these companies are NOT making windfall profits on these rates.
If I run my whole house 15kw generator at full load, the natural gas alone costs about $2 per hour, not to mention the maintenance and eventual replacement of the generator itself.
