The website GHD Hair Lord advertises to sell cheap, genuine GHD hair straightening irons, with savings due to obtaining the product direct from the manufacturer.

They advertise heavily through the paid advertisements on Facebook.

I stupidly looked at the website, sent a few inquiry emails, and everything seemed genuine enough so I went ahead and spent over $100 USD on a fake hair straightener.

The straightener arrived in a box from China that was very badly damaged. All of the packaging was very damaged, including the straightening iron which was inexplicably dusty and scratched, it looked like a very old second hand product in poor condition.

I emailed GHD Hair Lord saying I would like a refund, as stated on their website they have a 30 day money back guarantee.

The response I received said not to worry, by straightening iron was real, and was probably damaged in customs, I should just try it.

I sent back an email saying I did not want to try it, the plates we're bent and would not work, the product was in extremely poor condition etc and I was not interested in keeping it.

And so continues a long chain of emails.

It is definitely NOT genuine as I tried to register it online on the official GHD website and can not.

I then decided to just plug in the straightening iron as recommended and cut my losses, the straightening iron overheated, burned my hair, and after being plugged in for about 30 seconds sparked at the plug and short circuited.

The power plug in which I plugged in the straightening iron has had to be replaced along with a hair dryer that was plugged in along side the straightening iron that no longer works. And needles to say the straightening iron no longer works at all.

These FAKE straightening irons are extremely DANGEROUS!!!

I emailed again outlining what had happened, demand a refund, and have not had any reply.

I can't believe they can advertise on an international website such as Facebook using such a well known brand name, claiming they are genuine, yet somehow they have not been caught or taken care of.

They should be shut down.

New Website

AUTHOR: anonymous - (Australia)

POSTED: Sunday, June 19, 2011

The original website I ordered the fake and extremely dangerous GHD from was ghdhairlord.com

This website no longer exists (obviously too many complaints). But before they shut down they sent a replacement GHD in the mail (they did not email me about this; it was just a surprise package). I plugged in this new GHD for curiosities sake and within minutes it had overheated, was smoking and the "ceramic" plate had detached from the body of the straightening iron, only having been connected with a dark and melted tar type material.

This is so dangerous it is frightening, imagine the damage if I had been holding the iron when the plate welted and came off at such a high temperature?

A few weeks ago I received an email from a different website selling fake GHDs.

The alarm bells went off, as I never get spam (I have a very good spam filter), so I was unsure how this website would have my email address unless it was related to the website that originally ripped me off.

I logged onto the new website which is http://www.ghd-wholesale-au.com/ and this website looks EXACTLY like ghdhairlord.com, the formatting, the font, everything, it is identical.

So I sent an email reply to ghd-wholesale-au.com, when I did not receive a reply I sent another email, and finally this is the reply I received:

As you can see from the grammar this is definitely not an Australian company.

I know without a doubt in my mind it is the same company, and will continue to email them and hopefully get my money back.

I just would like to warn people about this new website so they do not waste their money too, and also do not get injured by these extremely dangerous products.
