The 09.02.2014, I purchased a domain via GoDaddy. GoDaddy confirmed the order via email, retrieved the money from my account and provided an invoice. It even showed me the domain in my account with them.Over 24h later (10.02.2014), GoDaddy sent another email indicating that there was an issue and that they are repossessing the domain and reimbursing my money.

I have contacted GoDaddy services in search for a friendly solution to the issue, but after over 50 min of interaction with their call center, they stated that this is in line with their internal policies. They confirmed there was no issue with the payment on my side (the money was transferred). The issue they indicated was that two purchasers were buying the domain at the same time, or that one of them had the domain pre-registered. From a technical perspective, both arguments don't justify how the ownership was confirmed once the process was completed.

From a legal perspective, once the possession of the domain is confirmed as being mine, taking it back is equivalent with stealing. I received the confirmation that the domain is mine on the 09.02.2014, also GoDaddy got the money from my account. However after 24h they decided that the domain should be repossessed.

Late on 10.02.2014 I received another email from GoDaddy indicating that the domain was cancelled from my account. I contacted the support both via email and via phone. On the phone they modified the story indicating that the issue is with the Registrar Authority and not with GoDaddy.

I've searched online and found similar cases.

All the above is documented as well as possible, with screenshots and emails, except for the interaction with the call center agents which is available only via GoDaddy systems.

I have purchased several domains in the past and have never had this issue, but I was using different registrars.

I hope people can find my experience useful and avoid these situations.
