Goodwill Industries Company mistreats employees.Dont work for goodwill! Bakersfield California

This is a complaint representing my daughter Sara employed by the goodwill industries on Stine road in Bakersfield ca. I am her father Bill. Sara is mildly retarded but intelligent none the less, and was very happy and excited to start a career with your
company. She was restless being at home all the time.

When Sara was about 8 years old she was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome , a kidney disease, and with treatment it was determined to be in remission. We have not thought about it since. She started with goodwill about 3 weeks ago and put in long hours in the warehouse, and became ill.

I took her to the doctor who ordered bed rest and gave her a note stating so. She gave that note to her supervisor. She went back to work the next day. on Tuesday 1-2-07 she called me at my work and complained of chest pains and hard to breathe. The supervisor at Goodwill or any of the staff for that matter showed any concern about it.

I took her to the doctor who determined that the nephrotic syndrome was to blame for the fluid buildup around her heart that was causing the pain. they ordered her not to return to work and prescribed medicine to treat the condition8ion.

Inspite of that, she returned to work today and performing her duties when an administrator accused her of eating on the job and instructed her to get her stuff and get off the property and she was on unpaid administrative leave. In fact she had a soda and some gum in the break room.

When she first started there she was propositioned by one
of the older employees, she informed her supervisor of this. but no action was taken.the day that i had to take her to the doctor for diagnoses, her supervisor , i
think pete is his name, threatened to write her up to Human Resources because she was coming into the office asking too many questions. ??? What kind of
nitwit supervisor does that? They also said that the doctors note doesn't mean anything.

All I wanted was for my kid to have a chance at
life . These individuals representing your company are denying her that CHANCE.

I am also intending to deliver a copy of this letter as well as an interview between Sara and Atty. Greene's office here in Bakersfield , Ca as well as the California state labor board.

I personally feel that she is being punished for getting sick when she had no premonition or control over it. The fact that she returned to work is an indicator of her commitment to her job.

( Sara's condition while serious is no more so than a person with diabetes and should not prevent her from reasonable employment. I also feel that they administration at the goodwill office on stine rd. is trying to make her quit. )
