Do not be fooled by the appareances or illusion when it comes to the two owners (a husband and wife team); on the inside of what seems to be a busy, well established nail salon with new and trendy nail polishes that are encouraged to be picked up, awaiting to be used...  "gorgeous nails" is only a long wait away. But, it is worth it. Indeed, worth the long wait while militant and n**i-like attitudes are faced in front of you.

Definetely not!! It is not worth any long wait or a fasley glamored nail salon of complete "safety".

I noticed that an interesting fungus kept appearing on my foot. It kept going away, and then coming back. I later decided to see a doctor about it. It was assessed that the infection and fungus that was discovered was front unclean practices of the owners at Gorgeous Nails. I was shocked. I though there was something clinical or innate to the condition. I never would think that in a million years that the nail place that I was going to for months now was the culprite to this finding. I've had a terrible time clearing the condition. The physican said that it was an aggressive and completely uncessary condition to control. This should have never happened to me! In order for this to have happen, extremely unsanitory conditions would have been in active practice.

Please beaware of any treatments (manicures; pedicures; waxing; etc) that you get from Gorgious Nails. They do not follow proper protocal and procedures for having a well-santized, public nail salon. If you go here, I assure you that you will be subject to a contagious illness on your "gorgeously-pampered" hands and feet. When you are looking for a nail place, do not consider Gorgious Nails. You would be glad to have read this review and consider trying another place to have your nails done. It is not worth the infection or risk to your health. Your health and safety is first and foremost essential.

I have been completely fooled by the "whole" picture of what seem to be a therapeautic experience, a mini-vacation-get-away that completely turned into the worst nightmare and nail salon tragedy of my life. Of all the years of going to a nail salon, never have I gone through something as such as this. I guess I was fooled by the spray bottles of cleaner; the sanitory wipping of surfaces; the immediate cleaning of the area -- of this seem to not matter when it came to the end result of infection and fungus.

Think twice about when you decide to visit or revisit Gorgeous Nails. Your health should be your concern!!

Wonderful Experiences for over 6 years

AUTHOR: Chris - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, September 02, 2011

I am sorry to read the negative responses to the services provided by Gorgeous Nails in Lyons, IL. I have been a loyal customer for over 6 years--the owners worked at another shop before this one and I have followed them because of the wonderful service they have done over the years. Their shop is immaculate. Their prices are very reasonable and do much better work than the high priced spas. I have never had an incident of infection in all these years. Their tools are sanitized and I have personally witnessed the great care they take in sanitizing all aspects of the shop. Please don't allow the negative responses to change your thinking about going there. There are always other reasons someone has experienced trouble, many times from things that are occuring in their body before they even walk in the door. How a doctor can determine exactly how this person got their infection is beyond me. There would have to be much more specific evidence for that. They are only surmising how it happened. I highly recommend their services and certainly will continue to go there along with all the other members of my family that continue to enjoy their service.

Gorgeous nails is exactly what you get!

AUTHOR: Christie - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 30, 2011

I can't believe the nonsense that is being said about Gorgeous Nails in Lyons. Obviously this person thinks the public is dumb because you can certainly tell it's the SAME PERSON who wrote the first  negative review regarding her fungus infection. Wouldn't you think if something like that happened at a place you were going to for a while, you would have brought it immediately to the owner's attention? there wasn't any mention of that! Then this person get's sooo dramatic about the pain she was in, and the work she missed you would think she had open heart surgery for goodness sake. When you go any place  of "spa like" services, I grant that things can go wrong but when they do a NORMAL person would address the owner of the busniess so that they could rectify the situation. This salon has a HUGE amount of client's, wouldn't you think if this place was so dirty and unsterile with their methods, SEVERAL people would have complained by now?? I happened to be in the salon on a day when this was being discussed and I said when I got home I would read all the reports and was shocked how one person could try to discredit a business that doesn't deserve it. I also read a rebuttal by one of the other client's who also stated that she never had problem and is there quite frequently. I use to go to the nail salon across the street from Gorgeous Nails (I will leave the name off) and I thought I would try this salon because it was new and boy what a difference! Gorgeous nails took their time with each client, cleaned the area immediately after the client was done, did a great job and was courteous with everyone. I haven't gone back to my original salon since!

So I'm sorry if in fact this lady had a fungus infection but she definitely could have brought it to the owner's attention instead of trying to ruin their business. I, along with numerous other's have nothing but GREAT things to say about Gorgeous Nails and look forward to many years together!!

Sincerely

Mary from Westchester

Harmful, Unsafe Practices Still A Major Concern -- Another case from another customer

AUTHOR: Affected Customer - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, August 26, 2011

First off, I would think that one case of any infection or unsanitary is too much and addresses a huge risk, even if it happened one time. I must stay, honestly, I have found to be a victim as well from the two Owners that run the Gorgeous Nails in Lyons, IL. I have found similar experiences that I would like to add from the first Author as I have experienced the same thing. I am sure that there are customers who are happy with their service and lucky have not been affected by the poor conditions and environment that anyone is exposed to.

I have also found that the Staff (which is the two owners), to be rude and inconsiderate. Even if it is a first come, first serve... they can't keep track of the flow of customers coming in. I have also experienced this. After waiting for so long, you expect to be next.... and they take another client. This has happened on more than one occassion. However, I do not want to emphasis this point, but it is also a similar experience I have had.

My personal experience was that I was cut from using a razor on my foot; because of this, I experienced a viral infection by the use of the razor. At the time, I didn't think twice about it. It was through my interactions of going to Gorgeous Nails that I became exposed to infection. According to the Illinois State Board of Cosmetology Regulations, it is "illegal" to remove skin as a form of exfoliation by the use of a razor or any other instrument that removes skin. The removal of skin is not allowed by cosmetologist, but doctors. I went to a specialist, Got2Feet - practice of Dr. Kathleen Shaefer,DPM, which happens to be a few miles down from this particular nail salon... the doctor verified this to me as I had to go for continued treatment to clear the issue.

Christie remarks that she is an "administrator" of two surgical practices. Despite that she may have had training on methods of keeping things sanitary. I have to state that Christie has no authority nor any specific licensure to substantiate her claims of what is or isn't sanitary. Christie is not a licensed medical doctor (MD, DO, etc) nor is she licensed Podiatrist (DPM). Christine does not know the facts of details of my infection or the previous author for her even to provide a rebuttal on my case or anyone elses. Although it seems like Christie has had a positive experience and has not been victim to unsanitary conditions, she has no position to speak on matters of myself or the orginal author of the complaint that our experience was or wasn't the case.

If there is such authority of education and clinical experience (which Christie leaves out), please state your credentials and respected lisc./DEA number to legitimize your claim of being a healthcare provider, recognized by the State of Illinois.

The truth is that this happened to me. And it happened to others. You can not take that away the negative experience that happened, nor can I take away any positive experience that someone else could have had. Despite any positive experiences of any future customers in past/future threads, this establishment is a risk to anyone who walks through the doors. I think (1) account is enough for me and more individuals have been affected (as I repeat!).

I'm also interested how Christie can say that myself or anyone affected state that the report is based on being angry or mad at the owners. Who wouldn't be upset if after going to place that you trust and have faith in to take good care of you nails puts your health at risk. Think about the cost of the office visit and treatment involved based on unsafe practices of the 2 owners. I know that I had to take over several weeks off because I couldn't stand on my feet due to the pain of infection and I have a labor job and Im on my feet all day. I missed work and a paycheck.

I choose not to go to Gorgeous Nails and I would highly recommend anyone to avoid entering this establishment. Would you want to go to a place that has a reported history of cases, such as this? Would you want to expose yourself to possible infection and disease? No thank you, I'm a lot wiser than that, and I do not have to be an "administrator of a surgical facility" to make that most logical assessment: stay away from Gorgeous Nails.

Not true at all about Gorgeous Nails

AUTHOR: Christie - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 17, 2011

I have been going to this salon from the very first day they opened thier doors and have Never experienced a problem. In fact I drive miles out of my way to visit the salon where I could easily walk to several near my home. The couple that own this salon are courteous, and do an excellent job regarding the manicures and pedicures. I am an administrator for two surgical practices and believe me I know a great deal about sterility and cleanliness, and this nail salon does a fantastic job pertaining to these issues. Perhaps the person who wrote that horrible report was in a bad mood, or had to wait to be taken care of but what does she expect, it's a business that is first come first serve, and they are definitely worth the wait! It's sad that just because this woman didn't get her way or thought that they caused her "fungus problem" that such a terrible, untrue report would be written. Here you have a hard working couple who provide a clean, comfortable, modern nail salon and they alway's put the customer first and to read a report that isn't based on facts is total nonsense. I have friends who also use this facility and they also have never had a problem. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this salon to everyone. We all work hard for our money and it's nice to know that you are receiving a five star service each and every time at Gorgeous Nails.

So in closing, when you are in need of a little pampering, and you want your nails to look the best, there is only one place to go and that is Gorgeous Nails in Lyons!

Warm regards from a VERY SATISIFED CLIENT

Christie
