My mother and I went to a Grandview Timeshare presentation in October during our 2 week long visit to Las Vegas. They entice you with the offer of discounted show tickets or gambling money if you agree to sit through a 1 & 1/2hr presentation. Our presentation was at 9am, we didn't get out of there until 3pm. The first sales lady who approached us took us on a tour of the property and of course showed us the model unit, not what you actually get when you purchase because 90% of the property hasn't been remodeled. It was so much nicer than the unit we were staying in, the model unit was fully equipped with two large flat screen TV's, granite countertops and new furniture, not like our unit. When I asked if I were to purchase do we get a new unit like this one we got the run around.

Then she took us to the owner area and sat us down. Out of nowhere comes another salesperson, a male, who was very charming. He told us he was from our home town and showed us photos of his daughter, these people will always try to make you feel like they're your friend. He even told my mom to stand up and hugged her.

As far as the timeshare goes they told us it was an investment, Las Vegas was prime real estate, we couldn't lose. On top of the great "red" week they were selling us at a very special discounted price, they were throwing in 4 extra weeks which we could sell for a premium price and use all over the world. This would definitely cover the cost of the unit. So we purchased the most expensive timeshare for $39,900, week 52, 122,000 points.

After we got back to our room we got on the internet and typed in "Grandview Timeshares" and that's when reality hit hard. There were so many Grandview timeshares for sell for half the price of what we paid. People seemed desperate to unload these things and get out of the payment. Upon further research we discovered that there is a lot of supply and less demand for timeshare resales which drives down the price considerably. We cancelled our contract the next day. Nevada law gives you 5 days to cancel in writing. The revocation form is included with all the documents they give you, then must provide it to you by law eventhough they don't mention it. So we sent the revocation form by certified priority mail, return receipt. It took about 3 weeks to a month to get all our deposit money back, but we got it back eventually. We're incredibly relieved that we got out of this. Big mistake. My advice is if you want to buy a timeshare buy it off the resale market where it's cheap, don't buy it at retail price at a timeshare presentation! And if you made a mistake like we did and bought, cancel asap, everyone makes mistakes, just get out of it as soon as you can.
