I purchased a set of adjustable spring suspension setup for my Honda a few years ago. The main reason I decided to go with this particular brand and the main reason I was influenced to make this purchase was the fact the company, "Ground-Control" claims that every single item from their company carries a lifetime warranty. Due to this false claim as I recently discovered, I did in fact purchase this adjustable spring kit from Ground Control and was under the false pretense that if something went wrong, I wouldn't have to worry because of their lifetime warranty, no excuses claim.

To my surprise and disappointment, I began having problems with GC's suspension kit within a year. The ride on my vehicle was terrible at best. I've been in similar vehicles with cut springs on stock struts and even with that setup which I would not recommend to anyone, had a much better ride than that of GC's adjustable spring kit. Of course it became progressively worse to a point I really can't even drive my car anymore. This of course is on a vehicle I average approximately 4-5K miles a year the past 5 years with very minor aftermarket changes. As far as my suspension system goes, other than this adjustable spring kit from GC everything else on that car is stock with your standard blue Tokico shocks which I have used for many years without any problems.

I decided to contact GC to find out about their No Nonsense, No Excuses, Lifetime Warranty claim which is posted all over their website, which they claim is on all their products, after going through 2 sets of Tokico struts and most recently having to replace both front axles. My first initial contact was with a rep named Jay, whom began defending their product and how it was probably installed incorrectly before I can even begin to explain the problems I was experiencing. Jay responded to my email within 24 hours and requested photos of the component which I was happy to send him. That was the last I ever heard from Jay, and after 2 months of frustrating emails to him without a single reply, I decided to email all the contacts listed on their website and finally received a response from Don Feen.

I thought for sure Don would be able to help me with all of this, but to my surprise never even mentioned or gave me a reason why this person Jay never bothered to follow up with my claim. Instead he started blasting me about how I'm using different email addresses and that he doesn't have any record of any correspondences with me, while all along my emails had all that information included below, as well as Jay's one and only response to me requesting photos. I couldn't believe this was even happening, Don blaming me for using different email addresses and explained the reason is because I wanted to make certain that Jay was in fact getting my emails. If Jay had the consideration to replay to my many requests on the status on my claim, it wouldn't have been necessary to use different email addresses. Anyhow, I then sent Don my invoice, the photos I sent Jay and this time even included a short video clip to convey more clearly the problems I was having. Since that time, which was well over 8 weeks ago never did I get a single response from Don.

So much for their lifetime warranty claim which is nothing less than fraud as most consumers would agree. The horrendous customer service, time and grief I went through to not even get an answer is completely ridiculous and I hope no one will ever have to face dealing with any company. At least tell me my claim was denied, but I believe I am entitled to a response whether or not it would be a favorable one. 2 reps with the same outcome of no outcome, to me equals a company that is deceptive in their advertising practices with terrible customer service and one that every consumer should steer clear from.

Nice try on debunking the claim of lifetime warranty. How do you explain the following?

Stated under the sites "Terms & Conditions"...

Ground Control Suspension Systems Inc. has always offered a lifetime warranty on our complete suspension kits. In order to continue to offer the lifetime warranty, we can only assemble and sell a complete, tested, matched and guaranteed suspension kit.

In consideration of our many, long time Ground Control customers, we are willing to assemble kits using springs or parts already purchased from Ground Control Systems by the original owner.

What this means is that, if you have already purchased parts from Ground Control, and would like to modify, change or upgrade your existing suspension kit, you may send your parts to Ground Control and we will reassemble your parts into the kit you wish, if possible.

Of course there can be no guarantee that the reconfigured kit will cost the same, but you may save money, time, and have the satisfaction of continuing your lifetime warranty against defects from Ground Control Suspensions.

This offer is only considered for the original purchaser, using parts exclusively supplied, and directly from Ground Control.

The customer is responsible for all shipping, and a Returned Goods Authorization number (provided by Ground Control in advance of all returns) will be required.

 

Of coarse they can get out of that statement by simply stating that you botched the install... 

 

WHAT KIND OF WARRANTY DO YOU OFFER?

Ground Control Limited Warranty for Racing

Ground Control Suspension products are designed for racing. We are not going to tell you that there is no warranty, that would imply that we had not designed the parts for what you are buying them for.

1.) Any part is guaranteed for 1 year against any failure, even excessive wear, including all bearings..
2.) Original purchaser lifetime warranty against failure of any non-moving part, ie bearing holder as opposed to bearing itself

3.) All Ground Control and Eibach springs have a lifetime guarantee to be +- 2% of the correct length and rate for the original purchaser.

The standard exceptions apply: The warranty will be solely at our discretion, and excludes incorrect installation, incorrect tools, and especially incorrect or insufficient suspension travel when used with parts not purchased from Ground Control.

Ground Control Limited Warranty for Street

All products manufactured by Ground Control, or specific subcontractors, are warranted against any defect(s) in material or workmanship for as long as you have the parts on your car.

Specific Subcontractor Parts, warranted by Ground Control are limited to the following:
1.) Springs manufactured by Eibach NA, with the code of “GC” on the spring.

2.) Shocks and struts manufactured by Koni of Holland, with the code of “SPGC” stamped into the body.

3.) Urethane bushings made by Plastech Inc, with the code of “GROUND CONTROL” molded in.

4.) Proprietary bearings manufactured by Aurora Bearing with the code of “-1” stamped on the housing.

Exclusions:

Certain combinations of spring, shock, and bumpstop may not be recommended by Ground Control. If any combination of Ground Control parts, not specifically recommended and sold by Ground Control on a specific invoice, results in damage to any of the individual components, all warranties are voided.

Incorrect installation voids all warranties.

Incorrect application voids all warranties.

Ground Control is not responsible for any damages, labor charges, freight charges, duties or any incidental costs related to any warranty claim. The extent of Ground Control liability is limited to actual components manufactured by Ground Control or by specific subcontractors as described above on behalf of Ground Control.

OK, So if you look on Ground Controls Website they say absolutely nothing about having a lifetime warranty.
Plus common sense shows that since it is a suspension system it will eventually give out so why would they give a lifetime warranty.
Here is the terms and conditions right from the ground control website.....
It says nothing about lifetime warranty

Ordering Information and Policies:

Same day orders must be placed and credit card authorization approved and cleared before 11:00 am PST, however this is not a guarantee that the order will leave the same day. Call us to be sure. All orders in stock are shipped within 24 - 48 hours from receipt of order. Most Ground Control Systems Inc. products are custom-assembled to order, and may take several days to prepare for shipment, depending on the season. Unless specified by the customer, all orders are shipped UPS Ground Service. Ground Control Systems Inc. ships all merchandise complete and properly packaged. Any damage, loss or missing claims must be made with the package carrier. Remember to give your order plenty of time. Ground Services take 5-7 business days in order to reach their destination, and expedited packages can become costly with shipping charges. Return Policy


Returning any Item for Refund or Exchange :

All return packages must be issued a Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number from Ground Control Systems Inc. and be accompanied by a copy of the original invoice. Items may be returned freight prepaid within 30 days from the date of purchase only if they are new, unused, complete, and include original packaging in re-sellable and re-shippable condition. RGA numbers expire 30 days after they are issued. Items returned without an RGA number or using an expired RGA number will be refused.

All returns must be shipped to "Returned Goods, Ground Control Systems Inc., 3885 Dividend Dr, Shingle Springs, CA, 95682"

and have the RGA number clearly displayed on the outside of the package. Because merchandise shipped from Ground Control Systems Inc. to our customers is always complete, properly packaged, and insured, it is the customers responsibility to see to it any item returned to Ground Control Systems Inc. is insured to protect the customer from loss. Any damage, loss or missing claims must be made with the carrier. All returns may be subject to a 20% restocking fee, solely at our discretion. No returns are accepted after 30 days from date of purchase. The customer is responsible for all freight charges incurred with a return or exchange. Some specialty items are not returnable, refundable, or cancelable under any circumstances. Items received that are not in good condition will be charged for any missing or damaged material plus an automatic 20% restocking fee, or they will be returned to the customer if requested, at the customers expense. Unclaimed damaged returns will be destroyed. Unauthorized customers returns, or returns that are mis-shipped, mis-packaged, or mis-delivered will not be 'tracked down' and are not the responsibility of Ground Control Systems Inc.

Cancellations

Cancellations are not accepted through email, fax, voicemail, answering messages, or through the mail. You must speak directly to a technical sales representative to have your order cancellation confirmed, (530) 677-8600. Shipped orders are not cancellable under any circumstances. Orders are not officially cancelled until you have received a cancellation number from a representative. Ground Control Systems Inc. reserves the right to deny cancellation requests made within 72 hours of placing the original order. All cancellations may be subject to 10% processing fee. Some specialty items are not returnable, refundable or cancellable under any circumstances. Cancellation requests on items that have shipped, or will ship the same day request is being processed, are considered shipped orders and cancellation requests must be denied.
