Guardsman Furniture Protectection Plan Bait and Switch Grand Rapids Michigan

I would advise potential customers to BEWARE of Guardsman Furniture protection promises!
I paid nearly $400.00 for my furniture plan. My warranty states, protection against " Any breakage of welds". That's NOT true. After a " technician" came to my house, was there for 3 minutes, took a picture and left, I was sent a form letter stating that the breakage of weld on the leg of my chair was due to a manufacturer defect so I was out of luck...not covered!
I called customer service and got the royal run around. No one could explain how it was determined that it was a manufacturer's defect (not covered) or something that would actually have been covered by the warranty.
If Guardsman tries hard enough, in my view, all my furniture can eventually be determined to have a manufacturer's defect should I ever need to use my warranty. Finally, I asked for the Guardsman CEO's name and address and the rep refused to give me any information other than a Supervisor's first name and PO Box address. I think there's something wrong with a company that refuses to provide information on its Board of Directors to customers facing problems.
In my opinion they are a rip off.
