Based on the image and reputation of this vendor and the fact that they billed themselfs as a restorer. I purchased a collector car and paid for it via wire transfer. The car had been advertised on Ebay and depicted on the Harwood Enterprises website using low resolution photos. Upon inspection of the vehicle, I discovered that inspite of specific answers to exact questions regarding the condition of an expensive collector car, the truth was quite different. I am a seasoned car collector and have purchased many many collector cars. The so called "restored" car was an old repainted pig. The car at some point in its life recieved an, at best amature repaint and some cheap chrome work. Roger Corea (the owner) said that restored was a "subjective term". This was a $45,500.00 transaction. the car was represented as having excelant panel fit and a straight body. I also had conversations with Marc Corea (salesman/son of Roger) regarding the wiring harness which was represented as being replaced. It had not been. Other problems included a patched up from the inside amature redone convertable top that didn't fit nor seal to the windows.

Ultimatly I recieved a commitment from Roger for a refund. He then tried to recant his offer. I ended up having a lawyer recover $42,500.00. a small hit, compared to the beating I would have taken had I been forced to fix the problems with the car.

To Erik, the previous poster:
Erik, what do expect the owner to do to prove this? Post a picture of the bank transaction refund? Cut him some slack. It sounds to me like the buyer here was in the wrong, over-anxious, and short-tempered which led to this disaster. I am curious though, if he used a lawyer, why all the money wasn't recovered? That doesn't make any sense at all, leaving me to believe the dealer's story.

Can you backup your claim that you refunded his money...? Otherwise, there is no reason why we should believe you and not him. What he is saying makes perfect sense, and I have personally witnessed your SHADY practices!!!

I would like to refute "J.Q. Public's" assertion that my company misrepresented a classic car to him. His headline that "Harwood intentionally misrepresents high $ collector cars" is blatantly false, irresponsible, and vengeful.

This individual purchased a car i.e. he wired money and said "take the car off of the market - it is sold" It was explained to him that the car was not a perfect show car but he insisted. A classic Jaguar roadster in excellent condition sells for well over $70,000 instead of the $45,500 he paid. Still, this car was in very good condition and was appraised at $52,000.

"Mr. Public" was rude and arrogant (like his comments on this website). He used abusive language at our business facility. Yet his verbal commitment and actual payment demonstrated his desire to own the car.

We turned down subsequent offers on the car for more than he paid and these offers came from seasoned collectors who viewed the car in person. We took him at his word.

In 13 years of selling and restoring classics cars, we have only received positvie feedback and compliments for our business practices i.e. full disclosure and integrity. One only has to look at many testimonials on our website (www.harwoodenterprises.com) to document our desire to deal openly and fairly with people.

We refunded "Mr. Public's" money.
