I bought my 1999 Saturn Wagon at Herb Chambers Seekonk. They sold it to and after I left the lot, I was pulled over by a Portsmouth Police Officer. He told me my car was not inspected and my brake lights were out. I called Herb Chambers dealership and they said they would pay for it it I got the problems fixed.

I got them fixed, and not a couple of months later, I was told by a Bristol Police Officer that my brake lights were out again. I bought the car to Herb Chambers and the man from the service dept. tapped the lights and said they were working and there was nothing he could do because they were working. A few months later, Oct. 2003, I called because my brake lights were out again. I was told the lights were covered under the warranty.

I drove the 40 minutes to get there and told them I wanted the lights checked to see what is causing them to go out. After an hour and a half, I got the $34.00 bill (I was told the extended warranty I bought did not include the replacement of bulbs, even though I was told over the phone it did). I looked at the bill, and all they did was replace the bulbs, they did not even attempt to find the problem.

I confronted the service manager, Mark and he said this was a new kind of bulb and I shouldn't have a problem with the lights again. I asked if they tried to locate the problem and he said no. I was upset and he said that the bulbs will fix the problem. How can bulbs fix what obviously must be some sort of short? They would not take the car in and look at it, and they made me pay the $34.00. I could have taken my car two minutes around the corner from my house if I'd known all they were going to do is replace the bulbs again and charge me for it. I wrote them and got no response from them.

If the problem happens again, I will go to the better business bureau. The money is not the issue, it is the level of service. First, no inspection and the brake lights are out on a car they sold me. Then they don't fix the problem the first time I travel the 40 minutes each way, I'm told they are working come back when they are out. Then I go back for a third problem with the bulbs in less than 16 months and they don't even check for a problem or short. This is terrible business in my mind.
