HIGHLAND PARK APARTMENTS , Highland Park Apartments is a rat and roach infested, ghetto apartment complex located in the OakCliff Section of Dallas, TX. Highland Park Apartment homes are run down, seriously in a state of disrepair and the community is overrun with drugs and crime. Also, the office staff is seriously GHETTO. I suggest you avoid. I was surprised to see this place was as bad as it is. No wonder they told me they accept "FELONS" and folks with past "EVICTIONS". TERRIBLE!! Dallas Texas

My friend is a convicted Felon who has done time in prison for drugs. He was looking for an apartment that would accept Felons. He had turned his life around and had several years of solid work history (plus good credit) under his belt. He saw an ad on Craigslist for Highland Park Apartments in Dallas, TX that showed they accept Felons and folks with past evictions. ANYONE BASICALLY. He called the Apartment community and spoke to a man who told him "yes. they were very flexible". When we both went out there to look at the apartments the apartments were in the OakCliff (Oak Cliff) part of Dallas, TX which is a very bad area. The area was run down, and there were cops with their lights flashing everywhere. All of the convenience stores right around the Apartments had "Armed Guards" and there were signs such as "No Access to Safe" and "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service". The Apartments were in a crime and gang and drug infested area. One look at the Apartments was enough to turn me away. They were falling down. Basically. However, my friend wanted to go in and talk to the staff and when we walked in the staff were all GHETTO  AS HELL TOO!

From the Office Manager on down. All Black, All Fat, All Loud, and the Office SMELLED. BAD.

While sitting in the office I saw three roaches and we were only in there 20 minutes. 

On the way out a RAT scampered by. DISGUSTING!

I couldn't believe my friend was desperate enough to stay at a place like this but he told me it would be for a short period only. 

My friend was desperate to finally have his own place so he put in an application anyway. They told him they would let him know something by the 'next day'. I didn't have a good feeling about this because the place, from the way it looked, was probably running a scam. they were probably only accepting applications to increase their revenue as it appeared they were on their way to being CLOSED DOWN by the CITY OF DALLAS.

One day passed and my friend heard nothing. Another day passed. And another day. 

Finally he called them and was told they had his crimnal which was "FINE" but were waiting on his credit. 

Another day and another day passed. He heard NOTHING.

They couldn't even expend a five minute phone call to give him the status of his application. 

He stopped calling. (THANK GOD)

Fortunately he found a very professional run, very nice apartment complex who gave him a chance and he is now settled quite nicely. 

However, if you are thinking of moving to Highland Park Apartments in Dallas (OakCliff) I would suggest you move to another location. This place was horribly run, nasty, crime ridden and disgusting and to top it off the Office Manager and staff smelled bad and were UNPROFESSIONAL!
