Home Decorators Collection Ripoff Return shipping charges more than twice the cost of the item! Said they would cover return shipping but now won't! Mexico Missouri

I ordered a loveseat and specifically asked about returning it in case the quality was not as pictured in the catalog. They said they had a tag they would send for a UPS pickup so I thought OK I would go ahead and order it.

When I received the item, the upholstery job was really bad -- tight in several places, loose in others. Plus the box was open when it srrived and the fabric dirty. I called to discuss returning it and they are just blowing me off. No supervisor is ever available to work through it with me and they say I have to pay shipping both ways after their representative assured me I would be able to receive a prepaid shipping sticker if the product was to be returned.

I have spent hours on the phone calling different shippers and have gotten quotes of $600, $299, $189, $399 -- most costing more than the $349 price of the loveseat! It is almost like they know the product cannot be shipped easily back once you order it and that most consumers will just say "oh well" and not send it back. They know that they really have people over a barrel!!

They charged $81 for shipping and processing on their end to get it here that I cannot be refunded for and now I would have to add another couple hundred to that -- just to get a $349 refund.

On another furniture order I was told up front -- if I returned the item it would end up costing me $150 -- that is the information we need to know in order to make an informed decision. The quality at Home Decorators is unpredictable and if I had been told differently about the shipping I would not have taken the chance.
