I bought a beautiful stainless steel LG French Door refrigerator from Home Depot 8/2009 for $1600. I also bought a 4 year extended warranty from Home Depot for $99.  4 years later, in June 2013, the refrigerator quit.  LG sent out a repair technicican who said the refrigerator was totally irrepairable. After many phone calls to and from LG, we finally determined that the refrigerator is outside of the one year manufacturers warranty but that the part, inside the sealed system, is still covered, even though the sealed system and the refrigerator are not. However, the refrigerator is unrepairable and my extended warranty exists for exactly this reason.  So I submitted a claim to Home Depot under my extended warranty. Home Depot sent out the SAME TECHNICIAN who could not believe that he was back, and that I still had a broken refrigerator, and that nobody had resolved my problem. He apologized on behalf of both LG and Home Depot and politely left. Since then I have spent 3 weeks attempting to get Home Depot to honor their warranty, which as of today 8/12/2013 (8 weeks after my initial repair attempt) they have refused to do. Today they offered to maybe, possibly, buy me out of the remaining year of my warranty contract as compensation. Home Depot insists that the refrigerator is repairable and that the PART is still covered under LGs manufacturer warranty and that LG is responsible. LG agrees that yes the PART that has destroyed my refrigerator is still under warranty but it is a sealed system part and cannot be repaired or replaced and that the refrigerator itself is outside of the one year manufacturer warranty and the refrigerator is ruined. They have told me over and over that the refrigerator is irrepirable and my extended warranty is responsible.  Home Depots warranty department apparently disagrees with both LG and the LG certified technician that they themselves sent to inspect my refrigerator.  So now I have had a broken $1600 refrigerator in my kitchen for 8 weeks with absolutely no resolution from Home Depot.  So, Home Depot, my question to you is if the part is replaceable and the refrigerator repairable, who is going to repair it when the tech YOU sent said it could not be repaired? Its a lemon which your extended warranty specifically covers. Not only that but it also covers the cost of the food it contained when said lemon of a refrigerator quit.  I want my extended warranty honored by Home Depot and I want the refrigerator replaced with one of equal value.
