I have been with HouseValues since April 2006.Needless to say they have given bogus leads, such as Joe Blow, and incorrect phone numbers.

I have tried to cancel my subscription but if you have dealt with the company you know how that goes.I now have left a message for them to get back with me but as of today they still have not called me back.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to cancel my subscription with them and not have to pay the fee.Really,if we could afford it would we be cancelling? If I can't afford the subscription how am I going to pay the cancellation fee? Any help would be appreciated.

HouseValues.com,bogus leads,early cancellation fees

AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 04, 2006

Just wanted to update what is happening.I cancelled my account on July 28th.I also cancelled my credit card so they could not get anymore money from me.I did file a report with the Washington Attorney General.I got an e-mail today from HouseValues demanding the payment for early cancellation. They are also willing to lower the amount owed if paid by August 20th.I am not paying the cancellation fee. They are threatening to turn it over to a collection agency so I am ready to start dealing with them.Of course when I tried to cancel they tried to tell me how great the company was, yada yada yada.If they are so great then why so many complaints on this website?Wish I had found this website before I "signed"up with them.Would have saved me alot of grief.Well I am not going to roll over and be taken advantage of by this company!!!!.

House Values

Hi Linda,

It is not that easy to cancel. They will want a 50% cancellation fee. (50% of the remaining 1 year contract.) If you don't pay, they send you to RPM collection agency. RPM will never stop calling. RPM is like something out of a bad movie.

I don't think RPM has the power to put it on your credit, but they call me at least 5 times a week and threaten to. Like 5 calls a week and this has been going on for over 6 months.

HouseValues.com,bogus leads

I have tried repeatedly to talk to someone at the company but it seems that we are playing phone tag.I did file a report with the Washington Attorney General today also.I have also sent e-mails to Housevalues due to lack of response from them telling them I am assuming since I am getting no answer from them then my subscription will be cancelled with no cancellation fee.I am not even asking for a refund.I will count that loss as a lesson learned.I just want my subscription cancelled. How difficult can that be?

Consumer Comment

As a consumer I saw their ad, went to their web site, filled out the forms, then realized I had been had. They do not tell you that you go into their system only to be irritated and tormented to no end by them and the realtor they turn loose on you. All I wanted was a simple home valuation, they turned the dogs loose and the valuation they provided was about $100,000.00 off for our market. I found another site that did it for free, online, in about 30 seconds and was right on. House Values is a nightmare and a rip off, STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM!!!

Suggestion on Refund

AUTHOR: Garett - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 26, 2006

Talking to HouseValues is very difficult. They are pretty good at shuffling you off or telling you it's your fault that the system isn't working.

My reccomendation is to take them to small claims court for a full refund. I am planning to take them to small claims court, and I have many ways to win, which I will share with you at a later date. After I get my money back.
