We are a truck stop five minutes south of Chicagos Ohare airport. This station has been in business since the 1980s. Were open 24/7 to serve mainly trucks. For quick processing and convenience for company and owner truck drivers we decided to keep our diesel pumps immediately open for drivers as soon as they pull up to the pump whereas drivers can put the amount of diesel  they wish and then pay after theyre done fueling.  On October 15th, 2011 around 10AM we served a driver with diesel fuel but the driver had a declined payment method. The driver then told the clerk that theyll step outside to make a phone call to obtain another payment source from their company, IDC TRUCKING. But the driver left the station without paying. The clerk then called me, the manager at that time, and explained what happened. Assuming that the driver might run to their company to obtain another payment method and come back and pay, I did not make a police report. However, I tried to contact the company but they were closed because it was a Saturday and I have to wait till Monday to speak to a supervisor. On Monday, I called IDC TRUCKING and asked for a supervisor. I spoke with someone who identified them self as the owner-operator of the truck of the runaway driver. At first the truck owner seemed to agree to pay for what the driver who works for them was served but it didnt work well. The owner-operator turned 180. I was forced to speak to the owner of the company but both persons simply told me to deal with the driver. Instead of working towards restitution the owner operator of the truck and the owner of the trucking company decided to become unresponsive and ignored my core concern that we can solve problems mutually.  Because of my nice heart I still decided not to make a police report in hope that mutual understanding and working together remains just like it has always been for us in the past years working less problematic with many trucking companies in any circumstances that may rise. I have managed this truck stop for more than three years and I have never seen a trucker drive-off without paying for what they were served(please note that drivers normally put an average of $400 worth of fuel with amounts up to $1,100.. depending on gas prices). This IDC TRUCKING driver drove-away with $170. I will not waste my time of serving my working-together customers to deal with one who doesnt understand what it means to work together. Next time IDC TRUCKING needs to fuel at this station they will have to pay first. Thanks for reading.
