This company has sent me emails stating they could not renew my service as my credit card had expired.  The email stated that I should update my information so they could continue my service.

Although I did nothing - they charged my card successfully anyway by contacting my credit card company.

No where in their communication emails (multiple) did it state that they would charge my card even if I did not physically update my billing information.

Instead, I was referred to their original terms of service (in very fine print) that states they can use an expired card.

this company has very deceptive practises!!!

When the user created an account, she indicated that she had read the Terms and Conditions agreed to them in full. The Terms can be found on https://www.idrive.com/terms-and-conditions and they explain that we sometimes get updated credit card information from the bank and/or credit card company. We attempt to charge the card that we have on file, and because we are a subscription based company the charge will sometimes get forwarded to a more current charge to avoid an interruption of service.

While we received e-mail requests to cancel the account, we explained that for security of the data and the account itself, we cannot modify an account without verifying that the request was made by the owner. We asked for identifying information as well as provided instructions to disable the automatic renewal that the user could have done without going through us. We never received the required information for us to cancel, and the renewal was not disabled either. As such, we kept the account active because we had no confirmation the rightful owner wanted it cancelled.

According to our records, the user called us on October 3rd to cancel the account, was able to verify ownership of the account, and we issued a full refund of the charge that went through for this year of service. As it currently stands, the account is cancelled and full refund has been issued, so we consider this case to be closed.
