I purchased what was supposed to be a Mophie Juice Pack Plus for iPhone 4S from iGearUSA.com. After waiting a week, I received a DHL package straight from Shenzen, China. The retail $99 phone case was marked as a $7.90 sample on the customs form and the product was counterfeit. I'd already read that there were some fake cases on the market so was alert to that possibility. I checked it out on this site and verified that it was indeed counterfeit: http://spot-fake-products.blogspot.com/2011/11/how-to-spot-fake-mophie-juice-pack-plus.html

iGearUSA.com refunded my money after I informed them that selling counterfeit trademarked items is a serious federal crime. They also removed the product from their website and claimed they didn't know it was a fake. However, they never asked for the product to be returned for verification that it was a fake. They seemed only too happy to give me a quick refund and be done with it. It seemed pretty obvious to me that they knew it was fake already. They must have known it was drop-shipped from China, and that is certainly not normal retail business practice.

I caught them red-handed with a specific product so they can't sell that one anymore since now they've been told that it's a fake and they can't claim they didn't know. Other reviews I've read about iGearUSA.com on Yahoo.com complain that the quality of the product wasn't as good as expected. It seem quite likely that they are selling a large array of counterfeit items and the knockoffs are so well done that most people don't know enough to complain.

I looked up the iGearUSA.com domain on Whois (http://www.who.is/whois/igearusa.com) and noted the address the domain is registered to: PO Box 61359 Sunnyvale CA

I googled this address and found literally pages of results that mentioned the address in connection with numerous different web domains and businesses. Most of the mentions were negative in tone and included many fraud complaints, legal orders, and poor customer service.

One site in particular links a number of scam domains with the same listed Whois physical address to a ring of Russian run fraudulent sites: http://www.bobbear.co.uk/international-design-center-llc.html

Again, just search the page for the address: PO Box 61359 Sunnyvale CA

It seems clear that iGearUSA.com is but one of a large ring of fraudulent sites run by the same group of people. I hope something can be done to protect US consumers quickly before many more are scammed.
