My experience is very similar to a Ripoff complaint filed by James of Cherry Hill, NJ.

On 14 Feb 2005 I too started a promotional offer with Incentive Reward Center for a free 40 GB Apple iPod. The promotion required I complete six offers from six different companies. I quickly completed all six offers on 14 Feb.

After one week, the Incentive Reward Center status web site indicated I had completed only four of the six offers. I have e-mailed and left voice mail with the customer service center. The response was I needed to wait 8 weeks for the offers to show up. DELAY TACTIC BEGINS.

After 8 weeks, Incentive Rewards still had not updated my status to show all six offers complete. Once again I submitted several e-mails to Incentive Reward explaining the problem. The response I received was simply I still had two offers to complete. They were not even addressing my problem. I wonder if they even read the e-mails. MORE DELAY TACTICS.

The two offers of concern were a purchase from PetCare RX and a purchase from Urban Nutrition, Inc. Both of these purchases were completed on 14 Feb 2005.

I contacted PetCare RX and Urban Nutrition, Inc. and they both stated that they had sent my purchase information to Incentive Reward Center at the time of purchase on 14 Feb 2005.

Now it's been almost 10 weeks and I have left more e-mails and two voice mails with the Incentive Rewards Center trying to resolve this problem with no success. THEY CONTINUE TO STALL.

I've offered to FAX to Incentive Reward proof of purchase for the two offers in question but have not received any response to this attempt at resolution. THE STALLING CONTINUES.

The terms and conditions of the promotion say all offers must be completed and the gift redemption voucher mailed within 90 days of starting the promotion. It appears Incentive Rewards will continue stalling until this deadline passes.

I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau of Southeastern Florida, the Attorny General's Office for the State of Florida, and with the Attorny General's Office for the State of North Carolina.

We'll see if filing the complaints produces any results. Unfortunately, my 90 day deadline is quickly approaching.

I completed my part (six offers) of this promotion for the 40GB iPod. Incentive Reward still has not done their part. Will I get the iPod or will I get Ripped-Off by Incentive Reward?

Update - Incentive Reward Center Sends Check

AUTHOR: Kevin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 03, 2005

Yesterday (2 May 2005), I received a check for $399 from The Useful.com (Incentive Reward Center) and a letter saying they were unable to send the 40GB iPod and to use the check to purchase an iPod.

Well, I guess this solves the problems I've been having with Incentive Rewards.

I will not participate in another promotional offer like this. Yes, Incentive Rewards finally came through with their side of the agreement, but it required way too much invested time on my part.

If you think about it, these promotions are truely deceptive and intentionally difficult to complete. Incentive Rewards could not stay in business if everyone completing the offers got an iPod. The referal fees just wouldn't cover the cost of every iPod.

Rip-off Reports.com is an excellent resource that exposes the true nature of these type of promotions. It is obvious that Incentive Rewards responds to the pressure of people filing complaints on Rip-off Reports.

If you want to participate in these types of offers, be prepared to file complaints with state consumer agencies. Unfortunately, this places a huge burden on these agencies. But, if enough complaints are filed maybe this type of promotion will be shut down.

Cheers to Rip-off Reports. Keep up the good work. A portion of my "iPod Check" will be headed your way as a donation.

Regards,

#4 Consumer Suggestion

I had the same situation, a real hassle dealing with these people but

Almost identical to your situation. AFter getting the email that they couldn't get me an Ipod they sent me a check for almost 350 dollars. Its a real hassle dealing with these people but in the end it all worked out. almost 4 months of staying on top of it but it paid off. Forget the Ipod I'm just taking the money and calling it quits with online promotions. The first and the last one I'll ever sign up for.

Peace!!!

Good number to call if needed..

Similar situation

AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 26, 2005

My situation is almost identical to yours. I however just received an email a few days ago stating they were sending a check b/c they were out of stock for the original product.

This is good news and bad news. The voucher was overrun, so I didn't have an opportunity to submit my upcoming change of address. Hopefully they'll respond to my customer service inquiries to get that address changed...

Good luck!

Update #2 - Incentive Reward Is Being Very Responsive

AUTHOR: Kevin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 25, 2005

I received an e-mail today from Incentive Reward saying:

"Thank you for sending us your confirmation email, you are now qualified for a Apple(r) iPod 40 GB. The Security Verification Process has now been waived, so you will not have to mail us your Gift Redemption Voucher. Also, a Shipping Request has now been issued."

This sounds very positive. Hopefully, we're in the home stretch.

Once I get the iPod in hand, I'll send another update.

Update - A Ray of Hope - Incentive Rewards Is Finally Addressing The Problem

AUTHOR: Kevin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 24, 2005

Right after submitting my complaint to Rip-off Reports, Antonio, from customer service left me a voice mail requesting I FAX in proof of purchase for the two offers that were still listed as NOT REPORTED.

OK, at least they're addressing the problem now. Let's see how quickly they act on the information I FAXed to them.

Will there be more delays?? Check back for more updates.
