International Award Advisors Unauthorized Debits

AUTHOR: Disgusted in utah - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 29, 2010

In response to the lady who was ripped off by International Award Advisors and then had them continue to attempt to debit her bank account, your bank can put a 6-month "stop payment" on any debit transaction that comes in for payment from them.  If this is not in place, and if you have money in your account, the bank has no choice but to pay it.  You can have the bank return it if they can catch it before it's paid, but the bank will still charge you the customery returned-item fee.

Another option is to simply contact your bank and have them close that account and issue you a new account number. I did that with my bank to stop one of these "quick loan" places from continuing to debit my account after I'd filed bankruptcy. It's illegal for them to remove any funds from your account without your authorization, but their excuse is that you gave them your checking account informaiton, therefore they are authorized to attempt to collect the debt that they fraudulently state that you still owe them.

Probably the easiest way and causing the least amount of hassle would be to just have your bank put a long-term stop-payment on any debits from that company. They charge you a stop-payment fee, but it's cheaper in the long run than to continually have to worry about some scam company taking your money without your knowledge or authorization.
