This hotel is being very abusive in its pricing policies. With no regard even for customers who got reservations they impose a $ 250 deposit. The manager at the desk the night of that incident denies to be the manager, a security guard that was helping stated that he is the manager.

With more than 20 guests in line, one of the two computer down, and the manager taking ten to fifteen minutes per guest, It took almost 40 minutes to get to me and the line was still as long behind me. When most of the guest would not pay the $250 deposit, they picking some of them to let in.

This is the most despicable display of unprofessionalism and disregard for customers I ever seen. At 2:00 AM when a tired guest is willing to pay $60 for few hours of rest is punished by standing the line for about an hour to be hit with a $250 deposit is abusive.

No one at hotels.com mentionned a S250 deposit. The manager rfuse to take the phone to talk to the representative at hotels.com some one had to put him on speaker. He was rude and had no regaurd for what the representative had to say. Policy was so new no one other than these two guy know about it. Noting was posted.

Jean, Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Shame On You!!

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Monday, June 01, 2015

Just Reading your rebuttal make me want to puke...just like standing in your lobby for almost an hour being attended for by thug-like individuals at the counter with zero customer service training.

Let’s get to the stupidity of your rebuttal: Deposit is refundable at check-out I knew, I guess you just learn that, that why you charge 250.00. For you info people that plan they stay in advance do that so they can be in control of every detail and get the peace of mind of a pleasant stay. What kind of managerial stupidity to jack up deposit from $50 to $250, and forget for more than 30 days to alert the booking agencies working with you. What king business common sense push this thug to call the police on a customer with a confirmed reservation. What kind of low credibility and shame you project on that institution when you lying to the customer saying you are not the manager when your helper said you are in your face. Of course you are not.... you cannot because you self-esteem is to low...

From Florida to Boston I stayed in the top hotels I always do my best to avoid places like yours.

Hotels                                 Deposit                                              Customer Service

Thrump at Doral                    $0.00   parking Valet $65/stay                Excellent Best customer service experience by far

Hyatt GA                             $0.00 Parking fee Valet                         Excellent

Hilton St Pete                       $0.00 Parking fee Valet $20@ day           Great

Sheraton Plant/ Cypress          $0.0 No parking fee                               Great

Westin Ft Lauderdale            $0.0 I do not remember of parking fee      Excellent

I have also stayed in countless smaller chains and rarely some motels Never ever seen a place so ill managed. Only crappie and ill-managed places like yours inconvenience customers with $250. deposit Do you know that on my second stay with you ......by midnight your desk attendant came knocking at the door to show the room to another guest....Did you also know that on my third stay with you someone was talking so loud guests were complaining.... and when I call the desk she said she cannot come over.. Please try your best if you financial means allow to stay at least at a 3.0 start hotel then you will understand that you have no business in the hospitality business. You are simply a shame to yourself and to the institution.

In the second part of your rebuttal you stated: I am not adult enough, I am petty, I am small. That is your best approach to a customer that arrived at your place around 1:20 AM with a paid reservation, tired, who stayed in line for about 40 minutes, was told he could not check in because of $250 deposit fee. On top of that you rather call the police than to listen to the representative at the booking company. Where the guest going to sleep? You do not care... Why the customer is mad? You have zero customer service common sense to understand.      You do know me yet you took it personal I am petty and small. Really.....When the kid wanted to show my occupied room to another guest....did i scream out shout the basic principal of the hospitality business at him? No...In the morning at check-out I pulled him to the side and told him you cannot do that. He told me “the customer was very demanding and want to see many more rooms”. I understand...I said and left. The representative that they have to put on speaker since you won’t talk to him told you for everyone to hear that hotels.com did not have any notice of the $250 deposit and you said that was just a month ago. They implemented that change of policy. Yet No apology when I watch you waving that fee for most of the people you feel like. If you get a camera go and watch in what despicable manner handle the matter. By the way just like I shake hands with the officers upon leaving I did say good night to your crew gathered by the door understanding they are just being led by people like you. What a disaster...what a shame.

Not a RipOff..

A deposit is just that....money that they hold(or reserve on your credit card) to cover possible damage or "incidentals".  This is done by just about every hotel, the only thing that changes from hotel to hotel is the amount.  Some may charge a flat fee for your entire stay, others may charge you based on how many nights you are staying.  Depending on the hotel it could be anywhere from about $50 to $500+ on average.

If you don't cause any damage or don't charge anything to your room then upon check-out you get your deposit back.  Now of course you are going to say that you wouldn't cause any damage or charge anything.  But the hotel doesn't know you from the person next door and because it could happen the hotel is going to cover themselves.

It also doesn't matter if you reserved and paid your reservation through the hotel or another site.  If you want to complain about you not being notified..take it up with Hotels.com, but you will find that going no where.  Remember...the deposit has NOTHING to do with the rate chaged it is up to the hotel.  You will find that hotels.com doesn't list the deposit for ANY hotel..but they all have them.  Oh and by the way it isn't just hotels.com, you can go to any site and will not find any deposit requirements.  So in the future if the deposit is such as factor for you, I suggest you contact the hotel directly and ask them what their deposit requirements are.

As for your check-in experience.  Based on your description of the manager taking 10-15 minutes per guest.  At 2AM in the morning there were about 4 people in front of you and with about 16 people behind you the last person got checked it at about 5AM.  Is that really what you are trying to say?  But since you also seem to know that most people refused to pay the deposit you must have been just standing around the check-in counter during this entire time, even though you wanted to just get some rest.  Yea....okay.

its a DEPOSIT and NOT them just taking money from YOU for no reason!! YOU get that deposit back!!! LIFE is about CHANGE and its how YOU deal with it that marks YOU as an adult. Obviously YOU are NOT adult enough to figure these little issues out so perhaps YOU shouldnt go out in public. Since THAT is NOT possible how about TRYING to have SOME understanding instead of just WHINING!!!! YOU HAVE NOT BEEN RIPPED OFF!!!! All YOU have done is show how PETTY and SMALL you are. Well THAT plus DEFAMATION!!!!! YOUR report is FALSE and YOU should be ashamed of yourself.

Lets examine it shall we:

1 of 2 computers down

10-15 mins PER customer

A policy change

Yep those poor guys were doing the best they could and YOUR self entitlment DID NOT help the situation AT ALL!!!!Did YOU perhaps MISS all that fine print when YOU made a reservation?? I found it in just a few mins. READ IT!!!!! It covers YOUR situation.
