ITT Technical Institute Attendance Policy Nonsense ripoff Norwood Ohio

I go to the ITT Tech Cincinnati/Norwood campus. When you start they tell you about their strict attendance policy, if you miss 3 consecutive classes, they drop you from the course. (classes are only once a week. so thats a whole lot of class)

I missed two sessions of my Wednesday class, following the forth of July holiday closure. This was the point the school saw fit to inform me of the technicality of the attendance rule. Its not 3 consecutive closures, its 22 consecutive days, regardless of holiday, calamity, or other unplanned/planed school closure. So they dropped me from the class.

Due to incompetence in the registrars office, they had scheduled me for my capstone class and its prerequisite in the same quarter (its important to know that the there is an "automatic registration" system at ITT, so students do not get to plan their class schedule, and there was no way for me to know about the prerequisite)

Because I am being dropped from the prerequisite of my capstone course, they may drop me from the capstone as well, leaving me with no credit for either course after completing 8 weeks out of an 11 week course. Of the head registrar, Dean of Academic Affairs and the Director of Services, nobody was able to give me an answer of what the next step should be or if I would be able to stay in the capstone course or be reinstated to the class I was pointlessly dropped from. They have however advised me that they will not permit me to take the two classes in the same term again, and should I get dropped from my capstone, will not be given credit for it.

What it all means. ITT tech is dropping my from two classes, making me pay for them again and pushing my graduation back from September of 07, to March of 08 over a policy that is highly controversial even within the faculty, arguably unlawful in this particular case, and completely hidden from students who only have two year old handbooks.

Please do not interpret this as libel against the instructors or the majority of the faculty. I wish to convey; the lack of structure or contingency for events the corporate office has anticipated, a general lack of knowledge (and overall rudeness) from the head registrar. (As well as, a complete inability of the head of financial aid to handle money. I'll go into that with a later report)
