Homeowners Beware! This appraiser is incompentent, unethical and a fraud.My wife and I purchased a home that Joan Purtell was retained to appraise to
ensure fair market value.My wife and I relied on Ms. Purtell assesment and purchased the home only to find out after we had already closed that Ms. Purtell supported a pre-determined inflated value with inappropriate comparables. Do use this appraiser for any type of Real Estate Tranaction!
If you are interested in viewing a Complaint filed by New York Department of State against Ms. Purtell wheras she was Sanctioned and plead bargained with the state by admitting to making discriptive errors that substationally had a negative impact on market value contact me and I will send you a link of related documents.
This appraiser is dishonest and there are no bounds that she will go to cover-up the truth. Ms. Purtell has destroyed our finances our credit and health due her negligence.

This couple lost in both Supreme Court and Appellate Court. This man and woman attempted to gain money. The home they referred to was appraised by three different appraiser with the same value. They hired an appraiser who went and did a drive by after they stripped the home commpletly of 2 furnaces, cabinets, vanities, etc., totally destroyed the interior of the home. They could not go after anyone else involved in their operation because none of the other professionals had E & O insurance. The home was totally destroyed. The bottom line is that Supreme Court and Appellate Court rendered in my favor. This couple's finances and health were not destroyed by the economic downturn and Banking Industry whom he worked for as a loan officer.
