I was selected to participate in a modeling job in March of 2005. This agency told me that I would be paid $160.00 per day for the job. I was at the job on March 17th-19th. I never received a check from them.

When I called, they didn't return my calls. I finally got a check in May for the job. Only one problem, they only paid me for 2 of the 3 days I was there. I still haven't received any payment for this job. I have tried calling several times and haven't gotten a response, not to mention the fact that I haven't received any calls asking me to audition for jobs since this last one.

I have probably only had around 3-4 jobs since I signed on with this company in 2001. They charged me like $1500.00 and I've only made around $500 of it back.

When I finally received a call today from my agent's assistant she told me that I wouldn't be receiving any further payment for this job and insisted that it was my fault that I didn't get paid. I am cancelling my contract with them and I would encourage anyone who attempts to sign on with them in the future to look past all the fake modeling pictures and fake compliments on your looks and see the true company behind it all. See the company who doesn't care about anything after you sign your money over to them.

I was very dissapointed in this company and I was fooled into thinking that they wanted me to succeed in the modeling industry. They do not and they make this very clear in their customer service efforts, or lack there of.

John Casablancas Modeling and Career Centers are JUST THAT

AUTHOR: Ay's Mom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 02, 2008

Just FYI for those of you considering a career in modeling or acting:

JC Modeling and Career Centers are simply for training. MTM is the Agency associated with JC, but they are meant to operate separately. It is unfortunate that a few of the centers have begun to operate in a manner that is not in accordance with ethical business practices.

PLEASE NOTE all JC Centers/MTM Agencies are NOT run by the same people. I believe most, if not all, are franchises, just like McDonald's. My daughter attended classes in Baltimore, MD and signed with MTM here. JC focuses solely on training, but MTM actually books talent and/or sends them out on auditions. The agent at MTM updates the casting hotline every week.

While my daughter has not become an overnight sensation, she has learned a lot from her instructor, Mr. Lawrence (a working actor who was always present, prompt, and professional), and she has had several opportunities presented. We have a big one coming up soon, so I'll have to let you know how it goes.

I am sorry for all of those people who have been ripped off, but I am not one of them. The JC Center I worked with was professional in all aspects. We met with the director several times and she made herself available if we has questions or concerns. My daughter's instructor followed the outline and curriculum he said he would. Perhaps we could have taken another path, but I am not disappointed with this one.

In all fairness, check with your local JC Center before you assume it is a rip-off. As with anything, do your research first.
