In July 2006 I was e-mailed concerning a car I posted for sale on the internet. The party concerned called and stated they wanted to purchase the vehicle sight unseen for the asking price. Pick up was to "be arranged" after the check cleared.

Later, I found out the intermediary was to be paid $1,000.00 in an overseas bank.

In short, they insisted on using "e-checks", a check sent by e-mail that you print using special ink(magnetic), and is signed electronically.

They sent me two fraudulent checks, as verified by the bank the the checks were allegedly drawn on and also the companies the checks allegedly were drawn from.

They refused any conventional method of payment, i.e. money order or cash. When I cut relations with them, they immediately accused me of being a "scammer" and said I had their money and would go to jail. This e-mail came from someone British, as they used British slang.

I spoke to a man on the phone two or three times who had a heavy Asian accent, possibly Chinese. The phone number was based in Los Angeles.
