Me and my sister and her husband arrived home and found this vehicle blocking the driveway to my parents home.Upon arrival we found 3 individuals outside in a vehicle and 2 inside and it was approx. 9:30 p.m,we had to park in the roadway and proceded with some caution.
There were 2 salesman inside selling our step-father a kirby vacummn cleaner and i clearly stated that my parents cannot afford to purchase a item of this expense at this time because of fiancial difficulties because my mother was just getting back to work after being on disability for the last 4 months.
They were pushy and kept stating he was buying it for her for valentines day and said he had 3 days to change his mind.Regardless like i said i should have tore up the contract and called the police but i hesitated.
I could tell my step-father was slightly confused and they were pushing the issue and if we had not arrived who knows what could of happened.My mother was at work at the time. Theres a question if our step-father is in the early stages of Alzimers.Regardless he was here alone and their prowling in the neighborhood at that time of the night on seniors.
They were receiveing $152.and puting the pen in his hand when we walked in.My step-father claims he knows what hes doing and this just isn't something normal he would do,he's tight with his money and has been wanting a big screen tv for the last 8 months or so but he has stated he couldn't afford it,plus there is other necessities that they need besides a vacummn.
This has caused a lot of stress on him cause he thinks we are calling him crazy and has caused a lot of arguments between him and our mother and the rest of the family.We try to tell him we are just trying to look out for him but he insists on we are calling him crazy.
We just think its a in justice for these individuals to be out here at that time of the night and pressing him into buying something of that magnitude $1615.84 at his age which is 75,our mother is 64 and i know the governor is pressing regulation about companies that take advantage of seniors this way.Is it not against the law to be solicting after 9:00 at night? My mother told him he should not be opening the door to people at that time of the night when hes alone.
Some assistance would be greatly appreciated in this manner,its about divided this family if it hasn't already.Help us resolve this matter.My mother needs glasses not a vacummn,we will come up with the money somehow for them regardless.Help please in Mi.

I have been entertaining myself with the currently 187 SEPERATE stories of some really pissed off people. Actually over a thousand if you read the comments and replies about the INDEPENDENT DISTRIBUTORS / REPS of the Kirby product.
I say INDEPENDENT DISTRIBUTORS / REPS because that's what they are.
I am an INDEPENDENT DISTRIBUTOR for RAINBOW VACUUMS. As far as a "competitor", I would have to say that Kirby does a good job of mass-selling thier product through in home demonstrations. Although I absolutely do not agree with 99% of the methods used to find thier audience and complete the sale. Neverless, there are some Distributors that run thier business in a completely legal, professional, respectful and positive way. AND the customer has a wonderful experience. Remember, I said "some".
Unfortunately, Micheal, you ran into some real class A d****e bags.
I have been with Rainbow for over 5 years and would never even attempt a demo without BOTH Husband and Wife present, to people over 65 (unless they know what the Demo is and are very interested) and definitely not in a house that wasn't even thiers!
What a bunch of Morons!
Some A**hole Distributor is NOT running his business in a way that I am sure the Corporate level would appreciate. This is very apparent in the quality of d****e bags that were in your driveway that night.
As far as treating your Step-dad like a child, Eric obviously does not have any idea what the hell Alzheimer's is. Both of my grandmothers have it and one is very advanced.
Child? NO! Micheal was being a good son and knew that his Father was being taken advantage of. Hell, I could wait a couple of years and sell my other Grandmother 3 Rainbows in 3 weeks because she won't even remember my name then!
ERIC- BITE ME in every sense of the word
Good for Micheal for calling the Cops- After all, they make a living getting d****e bags off the street.
If you have any complaints about how Kirby, Rainbow or any other In-Home Presentation company PLEASE CONTACT THE CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS!
They won't know if you don't complain- and they WILL shut that office down if needed!

I run my office to the absolute highest standards of ethics and customer satisfaction- and FIRE on the spot ANY of my Reps who do not uphold that same standard i.e.- d****e bags get s**t canned ASAP. End of Story.
Sorry this ruined the in-home demo experience for you Micheal, believe me it hurts my pocket book too when it is twice as hard to find an audience because of a bunch of wanna-be idiots. To those of you who allow a direct seller into your home to demonstrate a product, THANKS! We aren't all bad!

Micheal,
You should be ashamed of yourself. How horible it must be to be o 75 yrs. old and be treated like a child. You made a coment about weather you should have called the police on the salesperson. For what selling a product that your Step Father wanted . what ever his finances are, they are his business,not yours, mind your own business. He had 3 days to change his mind and they told him that.
So if it was such a financial burden I am sure he and your mother would have made the decission to send it back.(Remember 3 days). It sounds to me the one he needs protection from is you.Are you worried about their finances or you inharitence. Think about it.
